Why did this extension that describes itself as "free" suddenly start requesting that I pay for a subscription?

This extension is an absolute answer to prayer! For whatever reason, I am completely unable to view main content on most recipe websites...I've tried everything to just be able to view a recipe...the "skip to content" doesn't work at all and I've spent days trying to find a way...and then just now I found this...thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
