Overview

Turn Netflix & YouTube subtitles into language lessons: click any word for instant translation, dictionary & pronunciation.

Learn a language from the shows and videos you already watch. Sublens turns Netflix and YouTube subtitles into an interactive language lesson, right inside the player. Subtitles stay blurred so you can test your listening first, then reveal a line and click any word to see its translation, dictionary definition and pronunciation, without ever leaving the video. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Keep subtitles blurred by default and reveal a line only when you need it, so you train your ear first. - Click any word for an instant translation and dictionary entry. - Ctrl/Cmd+click several words, or click and drag, to translate a whole phrase. - Hear the correct pronunciation in the original language, with a button to replay it. - Auto-pause on hover, so you have time to read. - Press the Left Arrow key to jump back and replay the previous line. MADE FOR LANGUAGE LEARNERS - Works on Netflix and on YouTube (both manual and auto-generated captions). - Auto-detects the subtitle language, or set it yourself. - Choose the language you want translations and definitions shown in. - Turn Sublens on or off per platform, with no page reload. PRIVATE BY DESIGN - No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking and no analytics. - Only the word or phrase you choose to look up is sent to Google Translate to return its translation and pronunciation. Nothing else leaves your browser. Free to use. Install Sublens and start learning from what you already watch. HOW TO START 1. Install the extension. 2. Open a Netflix title or a YouTube video and turn captions on (the CC button on YouTube). 3. Hover a subtitle to reveal it, then click any word.
