Overview
Search your browsing history and copy the link to the clipboard without opening the page.
Browser History is terrible to use on most browsers. This tiny extension sits in your toolbar ready to use and opens your history on one page full size. Once you have clicked on the icon you can call the page with Alt+Shift+H or tap the icon again As you type the results get filtered removing anything irrelevant, so typing a little bit you can remember drills down fast. It is like "everything" for your history. Filtering out everything that doesn't fit. You can even set up shortcuts for websites you use regularly so just type "yt", leave a space, and any other words to search youtube. Or create your own by clicking "..." to the right of the search field. The shortcuts are shared to your other devices if synch is on. The search does not edit or change any of your history in any way. Press Enter and the top result’s URL is copied to the clipboard. Or click the one you want with the mouse or use the ↑/↓ arrow keys to pick a different one. Then paste it straight into your email, article or post. I couldn’t find anything that did this. Before, I had to open a tab, start typing the URL, click on it, open the page and copy the URL from the address bar. Or I had to open History, click Search, find it, right-click and copy. Now I just start typing what I want. A message pops up when installing "Read and Change your Browsing History" - it doesn't. __________________________________ GETTING STARTED After installing, click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right of your browser and click the pin next to History2Clipboard so its icon stays on your toolbar. (In Edge, click the eye icon next to it, labelled “Show in toolbar”.) Edge users: when you first open the Chrome Web Store, click “Allow extensions from other stores” at the top of the page, then “Add to Chrome”. Tip: right-click the search page’s tab and choose “Pin tab” to keep it ready. Alt+Shift+H always takes you back to it. To change the shortcut, go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts (or edge://extensions/shortcuts). A storerboatplans.com project PRIVACY: History2Clipboard doesn’t go on the internet and doesn’t collect or share any of your data. It uses the browser’s own history feature to read your history, on your computer only, and never edits, changes or deletes anything. When you install it, the browser warns that it can “read and change your browsing history”. That’s the standard wording for any extension that can see history, and History2Clipboard only ever reads it. Your shortcuts are stored in your browser, and synced through your own browser account if you have sync turned on. Works in Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Looking for pages you’ve saved to your favorites instead? Try its sister extension, Fave2Clipboard.
