Overview

Clean your browser history by tags, manually or on a schedule

Some things do not belong in your browser history. History Cleaner by Tags removes them for you — only the entries you name, and nothing else. You define tags: plain pieces of text such as a domain, a word or a URL fragment. Any history entry containing one of your tags gets deleted. Everything else stays exactly where it is. CLEAN WHENEVER YOU WANT Open the popup, press "Clean now", and matching entries are gone. The run happens in the background, so you can close the popup and carry on — it keeps going and reports back when you open it again. OR NEVER THINK ABOUT IT AGAIN Turn on automatic cleaning and pick the rhythm that fits you: • Interval — clean every few minutes, hours or days. • Daily — clean once a day at a time you choose. • Weekly — clean at a set time, on the weekdays you pick. • On browser start — browsers offer no reliable shutdown event, so this is the dependable stand-in for "clean when I close the browser". A run missed while the browser was closed is caught up automatically. • While browsing — the strictest option: matching entries are removed within seconds of the visit, so they barely touch your history at all. Scheduled times follow the clock, not the calendar, so 22:00 stays 22:00 across daylight-saving changes. MATCH PRECISELY By default a tag is matched against the URL only. Switch "Match URL only" off and page titles are matched too — useful, but broader: the tag "google" would then also delete an article titled "Google fined again". The choice is yours, and the popup spells out the consequence either way. YOUR HISTORY STAYS YOURS • Everything happens on your machine. The extension has no network code at all — nothing is uploaded, nothing is collected, nothing is sold. • No account, no sign-up, no analytics. • No access to page content. The extension cannot read the sites you visit; it only asks for history, storage and alarms. • Your tags and settings are stored locally and are never synced anywhere. GOOD TO KNOW Automatic cleaning is off by default — nothing is deleted until you say so. Deleting an entry removes every visit to that URL, and deletions are permanent: the browser offers no undo.
