Overview

Format YAML, fold nested structures, and switch list styles.

YAML Formatter is a lightweight Chrome extension for reading and editing YAML faster. It helps you clean up YAML structure without leaving the browser: - Format YAML with consistent indentation - Fold and unfold nested structures for easier navigation - Switch the current map or list between block style and flow style - Switch all collections in the document between block style and flow style - Keep comments and key order whenever the YAML structure allows it The extension includes two work areas: 1. Popup preview Use the popup to read YAML from the current tab, format it, and open it in the full editor. 2. Full editor Use the editor for larger YAML documents with folding, inline collection switching, indentation guides, and local editing. All processing happens locally in the browser. The extension does not require an account and does not send YAML content to a remote server. Recommended audience: - Developers - DevOps engineers - Technical writers - Anyone who reads or edits YAML in the browser
