Overview

See what a fund's expense ratio costs in dollars: ETF, index fund and mutual fund fees on Yahoo Finance and Morningstar.

See what a fund's fee really costs you, in dollars. Your data stays on your computer. This extension makes no network requests, uses no analytics or tracking, and shares nothing with anyone. It needs no login and no brokerage connection. WHAT IS AN EXPENSE RATIO? It's the yearly fee a fund charges, shown as a percentage, like 0.75%. A small percentage sounds harmless. Over years of compounding it adds up to real money, and the percentage never tells you how much. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES Open any ETF, index fund, or mutual fund on Yahoo Finance or Morningstar, and a panel appears on the page with the fee in dollars. For example, $10,000 in ARKK at 0.75% ends up $4,861 behind the same money in a 0.03% index fund after 20 years. Change the amount, the years, the expected return, or the fund you compare against, and the numbers update instantly. Your settings are remembered on your computer. Stocks, indexes, and currencies have no expense ratio. On those Yahoo Finance pages, a small grey note says so and links to a fund to try, and you can turn the note off. HOW THE MATH WORKS It uses the same method as FINRA's Fund Analyzer: each year's return is the fund's return minus its expense ratio, compounded. It assumes one investment, no further contributions, and no taxes. It's an estimate, not financial advice. Works on finance.yahoo.com quote pages and morningstar.com fund and ETF pages. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Yahoo or Morningstar.
