HiFi Streamer
Overview
A local & network audio player for Chrome.
HiFiStreamer isn't just another basic web music player; it is a dedicated, high-fidelity, zero-compromise audio engine built directly into Chrome. By leveraging modern browser APIs, it bypasses standard background resource limits to deliver a persistent, unthrottled listening experience whether you are managing tabs or minimizing your browser. Key Features: Lossless Local Playback: Stream FLAC, WAV, M4A, OGG, and high-bitrate MP3s directly from your hard drive into memory using the File System Access API. Supports Plex Servers: Connect directly to multiple Plex servers to stream your remote libraries with the same high-fidelity engine. Unthrottled Audio Daemon: Built on Chrome's Offscreen Document API, the audio pipeline stays awake and perfectly in sync, allowing for true gapless playback and custom gain-node crossfading. Native Metadata Parsing: Reads ID3 and FLAC headers directly at the bit-level from your local files—zero cloud dependency required. Rich Customization & Integrations: Features Last.fm scrobbling, hardware media key support, and a highly customizable UI with dynamic themes, and flexible queue management. Drag & Drop: You can queue up local media folders and network servers into the same media queue, and still drag files and folders from your desktop directly into the same queue. Privacy First: Zero data collection, analytics, or tracking scripts of any kind. This free extension is entirely self-contained and only includes a fixed, non-animated 468x60 banner at the footer of the Settings panel. Keep your data local and your audio pristine.
