HideGPT keeps your ChatGPT activity private when someone might see your screen — a shared office, a screen share, a friend looking over your shoulder. 🔒 WHAT IT DOES • Blurs conversation titles in the ChatGPT sidebar • Blurs message text (your prompts and the answers) in the chat thread • Collapses the ChatGPT sidebar so nothing is visible at a glance • Removes chatgpt.com visits from your browser's local history Everything stays locked behind a PIN that you choose. Hover a single blurred item to peek at just that one — the rest stays hidden. 🔐 HOW IT WORKS • Set a 4+ character PIN on first run. • Locked by default. Enter your PIN to unlock. • Toggle each feature on or off individually (sidebar blur, sidebar collapse, thread blur, history deletion). • Auto-locks every time you restart your browser. • Need to change your PIN? Do it anytime from the popup. 🛡️ PRIVACY — THIS IS IMPORTANT The extension collects NO data. There are no servers, no analytics, no trackers, and no third parties. • Your PIN is stored only as a salted SHA-256 hash — it is never saved in plain text and never leaves your device. • All settings are stored locally in your browser. • History deletion removes chatgpt.com entries from THIS browser's local history only. It does not affect Chrome Sync on other devices, your Google Account's Web & App Activity, or any records held by your network provider or ChatGPT/OpenAI. • The full source code is open for inspection. This is client-side privacy.
