Overview

All-in-one privacy shield: blocks ads and trackers, learns new trackers, defeats fingerprinting and rejects cookie banners.

Shomer (Hebrew for "guardian") combines four privacy protections in one lightweight extension. It is open source, collects no data, and makes no network requests of its own. ADS & CONTENT BLOCKING • Blocks ads and known trackers using EasyList, EasyPrivacy, uBlock filters and Peter Lowe's list — about 156,000 filters compiled into Chrome's fast built-in blocking engine • Hides leftover ad boxes and supports advanced element-hiding filters • Defuses anti-adblock scripts and keeps pages working with harmless stand-ins for blocked scripts • Element picker and zapper: point at anything annoying and remove it • "My filters": write your own rules in the familiar Adblock Plus / uBlock Origin syntax TRACKER LEARNING • Spots third parties that follow you with identifying cookies or browser fingerprinting • Blocks them automatically once they have tracked you on 3 different sites — even trackers no list knows about yet • Keeps logins, payments, maps and CAPTCHAs working by blocking only their cookies • Block / Cookies / Allow controls for every third party, right in the popup • Sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), and strips tracking parameters such as utm_*, fbclid and gclid from links FINGERPRINT SHIELD • Adds invisible noise to canvas, WebGL and audio readouts, so they can't be used to identify your browser • The noise changes on every visit but stays consistent within a page, so it can't link your visits • Protected functions still look built-in, and the shield also covers freshly created frames • Strict mode adds protection against font and screen-measurement fingerprinting • Stops WebRTC from revealing your local IP address COOKIE BANNERS • Clicks "Reject" for you on 30+ consent platforms (OneTrust, Cookiebot, Didomi, Quantcast, Usercentrics and more) • Finds the reject button on unknown banners in 15+ languages, including Hebrew • Hides banners that can't be refused and restores page scrolling • Never clicks "Accept" YOU STAY IN CONTROL • Per-site switches for every protection, plus a one-click "trust this site" button • A dashboard with statistics, filter list settings and learned trackers • Settings backup and restore PRIVACY Shomer collects nothing. Everything it learns stays in your browser. No accounts, no analytics, no remote code. Open source (GPL-3.0): https://github.com/harelhz/shomer
