Focus — Blur Previews

Blur previews, photos, ads, and video players on sites you choose. Per-site controls and a one-hour pause.

Focus blurs distracting pictures and video on websites you choose. Text and page layout stay in place, so you can keep working. Choose what to blur for each site: • Video previews: thumbnails and short preview clips. • Advertisements: recognized banners and ad placements. • Video players: video surfaces and supported player posters. • Content images: photos, illustrations, and image backgrounds, with recognized interface icons and website logos kept clear. Video previews, ads, and players are on by default. Enable Content images when you want photos blurred too. The Content images filter uses each picture's displayed size. Set a minimum from 32 to 512 px; both sides must reach it. The default is 96 px. Choose Blur all images to include small pictures, icons, and logos. Preview, ad, and player controls continue to work separately. Add a domain or paste a website address. Subdomains are included. Each site keeps its own filters and blur strength, from 8 to 64 px. Focus asks for access when you add a site. Pause blurring for one hour across that site's tabs, or resume sooner. The pause deadline survives page reloads and browser restarts. Images added during scrolling or resized by the page follow your settings too. Focus runs locally without remote code or external image analysis. Settings stay on your computer and are not synced. You do not need an account. There are no analytics, and Focus does not upload page content, images, videos, or browsing history. Focus applies visual blur. It does not stop playback, mute audio, or prevent ads from loading. Detection depends on the website's layout and can miss some content as sites change. Chrome's protected pages cannot be modified. The interface is in English. Requires Chrome 119 or later.
