WaniKani Sentence Practice turns WaniKani's example sentences into active reading practice. Instead of passively reading a sentence and its English translation together, you try to read the Japanese first, check yourself, and only then reveal the answer. FEATURES • Furigana on hover: Hover over any word in a context sentence to see its hiragana reading above it. Nothing shifts on the page when a reading appears. • Spoken sentences: A speaker button next to each sentence reads it aloud using your browser's built-in Japanese voice. Press another sentence's button to switch. • Hidden translations: English translations start hidden behind a Show button, one per sentence. This works in both Context Sentences and Patterns of Use. Click again to hide the translation and test yourself again. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE Readings are generated locally in your browser with the kuromoji.js tokenizer and a bundled IPADIC dictionary. No data is sent anywhere, no WaniKani API token is needed, and the extension works offline. WORKS ON WaniKani lessons, vocabulary pages, and review item info panels (wanikani.com). NOTES • Readings come from a dictionary, so a few uncommon words may be missing or occasionally wrong. Words the dictionary doesn't recognise are left without furigana rather than shown with a wrong one. • Spoken audio uses your browser's installed Japanese voice. • This is an unofficial extension and is not affiliated with or endorsed by WaniKani or Tofugu.
