The body is orange mixed with white, the legs and claws have many small rough spots. The round black eyes stand out on long eye stalks. It is sheltering in a pale blue-white spiral snail shell - this crab species does not have a hard shell to protect it, so it often "borrows" discarded snail shells to make a home. The front legs are strong, adapted to crawl on the sand while holding on to the shell.
