Helmet
Overview
One daily budget of feed time. The page burns red as you spend it. Nothing gets blocked.
Doomscrolling is an accident that happens slowly. Helmet makes it impossible not to notice. You get one daily budget of feed time (default 30 minutes, you pick the number), shared across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and Substack. As you spend it, the page turns red. Past your budget, the red keeps deepening until you can barely read the feed. Nothing is ever blocked, you can always keep scrolling. You just can't pretend you're not. HOW IT WORKS • One shared budget across five feeds. Burn it on X and LinkedIn is already red when you get there. • Opening a site costs extra. Every fresh visit burns a couple of minutes off the top, checking 14 times a day is the habit, so the habit has a price. • Create, don't doom-scroll. Posting something original on X earns minutes back and the red drains away. Replies don't count. • It keeps score. Posts read, opens today, minutes against your 7-day average, plus a small counter that follows your cursor down the feed. • Toggle any of the five sites off in the popup. PRIVACY Everything stays in your browser. No servers, no analytics, no tracking. The only network request Helmet ever makes is a license check to the payment service.
