Overview

Keyboard-driven command palette for your browser. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) to search tabs and bookmarks, and save windows as Spaces.

helm is a command palette for your browser — built for people who think browsers should work like code editors. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) to open the palette and start typing. Search across tabs, bookmarks, history, and downloads with fast fuzzy matching. Prefix with / to run commands. FEATURES Search Everything - Fuzzy search across open tabs, bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads - Multi-word matching: type "git issues" to find "GitHub - My Issues" - URL aliases: type "gh" to open GitHub (define your own shortcuts) Tab Management - Multi-select tabs with Cmd+Click, then bulk close, move, pin, mute, or group - Rename tabs, duplicate, move between windows - Sort tabs by title, URL, or domain - Close duplicate tabs, group tabs by domain, group child tabs from a parent Spaces & Groups - Save and restore sets of tabs as Spaces - Create, rename, and manage tab groups - Context-switch without losing your place Mission Control — Your New Tab - Replace the new tab with a start page: clock, weather, recent tabs, and saved Spaces - Quick Links — a grid of your most-used sites, ranked from your history, with pinning and add-by-URL - Or mirror your Bookmarks Bar as tiles instead - Custom backgrounds, gradients, and a daily photo - Fully configurable: toggle each section on/off and choose your layout density Commands - 60+ built-in commands accessible from the palette - Export any page to Markdown - Full-page screenshot (captures beyond the viewport) - Extract or download images from any page Keyboard-First Design - Navigate entirely with your keyboard - Opt+K for sub-actions on any item - Configurable keyboard shortcuts - No mouse required PRIVACY helm stores your data on your device. It runs no ad networks and never sells or shares your data — anything that leaves your device is something you turn on yourself. See our privacy policy for details. PERMISSIONS When you install helm, your browser lists the access it needs — and the broadest item (running on every site) is the one that tends to look alarming. It's what lets the command palette open on any page and keeps your custom tab names in place; helm reads a page's content only when you ask it to, with Export to Markdown or Extract Images. Everything else maps to a feature you can see — searching tabs, bookmarks, history, and downloads — and all of it runs on your device. Full detail: helmext.com/permissions.html
