HearthUI — New Tab Home Screen Widgets

HearthUI turns your new tab into a home screen. Arrange widgets however you like, keep your favorite sites in a magnifying dock, choose a wallpaper that actually feels alive, and open your browser to something that feels like your space. Widgets for the things you actually use Clock - digital, flip, analogue, or glass styles, with support for any timezone Weather - forecasts and air quality for multiple saved cities Notes - Markdown, checklists, attachments, archive, and trash Tasks - reminders, recurring tasks, and a compact 1×1 version Pomodoro, Timer, and Countdown Habit tracking App Grid - organize your favorite sites into folders and categories Calendar, Search, Media, and Photo Frame Google Photos and Home Assistant integrations, if you use them Widgets aren't simply stretched when you resize them. Each size, from 1×1 to 6×6, has its own layout. A small widget stays focused and simple. Give it more space, and it can show more details, controls, or lists. Make it feel like yours Free grid - drag, resize, and arrange everything freely Spaces - keep separate screens for work, home, or anything else Dock - macOS-style magnification, dividers, and drag-to-reorder Wallpapers - use your own images or animated WebGL backgrounds Glass effects - widget edges subtly refract the wallpaper underneath Themes - save your layout, wallpaper, and accent color together Light and dark modes, tinting, and reduced-motion support Private by construction HearthUI doesn't have accounts. There's no sign-in, and there's no HearthUI server storing your data. Your notes, tasks, bookmarks, settings, and layout stay in your browser's local storage and remain on your device. HearthUI only connects to outside services when it needs something the browser can't provide on its own: Open-Meteo-for weather forecasts BigDataCloud-to turn your coordinates into a city name Google Fonts-for typefaces Simple Icons, Iconify, DuckDuckGo, or Google- to find logos for sites you add When an icon service is used, that service can see the domain you're requesting an icon for. You can choose which icon source HearthUI uses. Everything else stays local. The extension's core permissions are storage, unlimited storage, location, and favicon access - covering local data, weather, and site icons in your dock. Location is only used by the weather widget to figure out your current city, and only if you allow it. Two more permissions - tabs and scripting - are optional and are only requested if you turn on the Media widget's playback controls, letting it see which tab is currently playing and send your play/pause/skip commands to it. If you don't use that feature, neither permission is ever requested. And there's no remote code. Everything HearthUI runs is packaged directly inside the extension. Pin notes gained a Pantone-style Color Swatch skin with a wallpaper-adaptive accent color. Fixed reduced-motion support across the interface.
