Overview

Finds the graded work Canvas buries where the To-Do list never looks.

Find the graded work your Canvas To-Do list leaves out. Canvas only puts an assignment on your To-Do list if the teacher published it, gave it a due date, made it graded, and set it to be turned in through Canvas. Plenty of graded work misses one of those: a worksheet packet, an in-class test on Thursday, a reading quiz your teacher typed into Monday's module page instead of making it an assignment. Heads Up reads your courses and module pages and puts that work in one list with the rest of your assignments. WHAT IT DOES • Reads your courses, assignments and recent module pages from your own Canvas account. • Finds graded work that only exists as text on a page, like "Unit 3 test Friday" or "packet due at the start of class." • Sorts everything across all your classes into Late, Due and Undated. • Checks again every 30 minutes and shows a count on the toolbar icon. • Lets you mark things done, including paper work Canvas can't see. Your done list is saved in your own Canvas account, so it's the same on your laptop and your home computer. • Links every item to the Canvas page it came from. HOW IT DECIDES • Late means the Canvas due date has passed. If Canvas can't track the work, like a packet handed in during class, the row says so and you can mark it done. • Work found on a page only shows up if Heads Up can quote the page word for word. • If a class couldn't be fully checked, the list tells you instead of showing it as empty. • It only reads. It never submits or changes anything in your coursework. PRIVACY • There's no account or sign-up. You sign in to Canvas as usual and press Connect. • Connecting creates a Canvas access token for your account. The token stays on your device and is never sent to Heads Up's servers. You can revoke it any time with Disconnect, or in Canvas under Account, Settings, Approved Integrations. • Heads Up starts fetching your Canvas courses as soon as you open it, on your device, so your list is ready when you connect. Nothing is sent to Heads Up until you press Connect. • After you connect, the text of recent module pages goes to Heads Up and its AI provider to find the work written on them. The pages aren't kept. Heads Up keeps only the assignments it found, for 14 days. • Heads Up never sends your Canvas name, email, grades or token. Teacher pages can mention names, and that text is sent as written. • Nothing is sold, and there are no ads. WORKS WITH • Any school whose Canvas address ends in instructure.com, like yourdistrict.instructure.com. You pick your school the first time you open it. • Chrome on your own computer. School-managed Chromebooks usually block extensions the district hasn't approved. • It's free. Heads Up is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instructure. Canvas is a trademark of Instructure, Inc. Privacy policy: https://getheadsup.pages.dev/privacy
