Tabito is a tiny, local Chrome extension for people who live in tabs. It does four things — and only four things: ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. SMART DUPLICATE HANDLING ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Tabito tells a deliberate copy from an accidental re-open by watching how a tab is born. • Type a URL that's already open in another tab? Tabito drops the fresh tab and jumps you to the existing one. • Right-click → Duplicate on purpose? The copy is kept. If you never touch it for X minutes, it closes itself. Focusing a copy resets its timer, so a copy you actually use stays. • Pinned tabs are never touched, ever. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 2. JUMP TO ANY LIVE CALL ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ One shortcut (Alt+Shift+M by default) focuses your live call from anywhere in the browser. Works with: • Google Meet • Zoom (web client) • Microsoft Teams (web) • WhatsApp Web If you have more than one call open, press again to cycle. Detection is URL-based — so muted sessions and all-quiet brainstorms still count as live and never trigger the auto-close. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 3. AUTO-CLOSE IDLE CALL TABS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ When a call actually ends and you leave the tab sitting there, Tabito closes it after a delay you set (default 3 min). Viewing the tab or navigating back into a call cancels the close. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 4. FUZZY TAB SEARCH & ONE-CLICK CLEANUP ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Search: click the icon, start typing. Fuzzy match across titles and URLs, live-call tabs float to the top, arrow keys navigate, Enter jumps. Works across every window. • Clean tabs now: one button collapses exact duplicates (keeping the copy you used most recently) and groups the rest by host into Chrome's native tab groups. Five GitHub tabs and three Hacker News tabs become two tidy, colored groups. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHY YOU CAN TRUST TABITO ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Zero host permissions. Tabito cannot read any website you visit. • Zero content scripts. It never runs code on your pages. • Zero network calls. There is no server, no account, no analytics. • Zero data collected. Your tab list never leaves your browser. The entire permission set: tabs, alarms, storage, tabGroups.
