Three things to know: 1. The extension only does work when you click. We do not read your browsing history, we do not track which YouTube videos you watch, and we do not silently send anything to our backend. The only network calls happen on videos you explicitly ask us to fetch. 2. The cookies permission is used solely to detect when you sign in or out at you-tldr.com so the extension can refresh its cached auth state. We never read, write, or transmit any cookie value. (Chrome doesn't even expose the auth-token cookie to extensions — we couldn't read it if we wanted to.) 3. Transcripts and AI responses are cached locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local for 24 hours and then auto-deleted. Your language preference is also saved locally. Nothing is stored on our servers beyond what's needed to generate the AI response you asked for. We use Google Gemini as our AI provider and, per the Gemini API terms, content sent through the paid Gemini API is not used to train Google's models.
