Neural Reader turns any web page into a high-quality audio experience. It reads aloud in Google's latest-generation neural voices and highlights each word as it is spoken, so you can listen and follow along at once. STUDIO-GRADE NEURAL VOICES • Powered by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech – access to Google's neural voice families, including Neural2 and WaveNet, with natural intonation, rhythm and pronunciation. • Newer premium voices such as Chirp 3 HD and Studio can be selected by voice ID from the full list of voices available for your account. • Choose from hundreds of voices across many languages and accents. • Bring your own Google Cloud API key. Google Cloud includes a free monthly allowance for Neural2 voices, so most people can enjoy premium quality at little or no cost (see Google's pricing page for current limits). READ WHAT YOU WANT • Read your selection or the whole page in one click. • Alt+click any word to hear just that word. • Smart page reading skips menus, footers, sidebars and hidden elements. • A short pause after the article title, so the heading doesn't run into the text. READER VIEW • A clean full-screen view of the article in dark, light or sepia, with adjustable text size. • Start reading automatically and close with Esc. FOLLOW ALONG • The current word changes colour as it is spoken; choose from four font colours and four highlight backgrounds, plus an optional underline. • Colours adapt to light and dark pages so they stay readable. • With Google voices, timing is re-synced at the start of every sentence to keep the highlight in step with the voice. PRIVACY • No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. • Settings and your API key stay in your browser's local extension storage. • With the Google Cloud engine, the text you choose to read is sent to Google's Text-to-Speech service using your own API key. With built-in voices, text is handled by your browser and operating system; some online system voices may send text to their provider. Neural Reader is free.
