Overview

Open .eml, .msg & winmail.dat files in Chrome. View attachments, print to PDF. No Outlook, no upload, no size limit.

Open email files right in Chrome. Drop an .eml or .msg file (or a winmail.dat attachment) into the side panel and read it in a second: sender, recipients, date, the formatted message body, inline pictures and every attachment. No Outlook, no mail account, no upload. WHO IT'S FOR • People who received a saved email as a file and have no mail program to open it • Office workers who need to view an Outlook msg without Outlook installed • Lawyers, accountants and support teams who handle exported messages every day • Mac, Linux and Chromebook users who get .msg files from Windows colleagues • Anyone who got a mysterious winmail.dat instead of the real attachments HOW TO USE 1. Click the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar. The viewer opens in the side panel next to the page you are on. 2. Drag one or more email files into the panel, or press "Choose files" and pick them. 3. Click a message in the list to read it. 4. Click an attachment to preview it, or use the download button next to it. 5. Press "Print / PDF" to print the message or save it as a PDF file. FEATURES • Open eml file exports from Gmail, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and other mail programs • Msg file viewer for messages saved from desktop mail apps, including old RTF-only messages • Winmail.dat opener: extracts the hidden attachments and the message text • Messages attached inside other messages open as their own item, at any depth • Inline images are shown in place, exactly where the sender put them • Attachment preview for images, PDF and text files; download one or all at once as a .zip • Correct display of Cyrillic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and European encodings • Print or save as PDF with a clean header (subject, from, to, date, attachments) • Raw headers view for checking routing and authentication details • Lives in the Chrome side panel, so you can read a message while working in any tab • Several files at once in a list with sender, subject and date • Large files of 100 MB and more open without freezing the page • Light and dark theme that follows your system, or set it manually • Interface in 52 languages: follows your browser, or pick one in the settings • Works offline, no sign-in, no limits PRIVACY Everything happens inside your browser. Files are read locally on your computer and are never uploaded, stored on a server or shared. The extension has no analytics, no ads and no account. Pictures loaded from the internet are blocked by default, because they can tell the sender when and where you opened the message. Press "Show images" for a single message, or switch on "Always show remote images" in the settings. Message HTML is cleaned before it is displayed and scripts never run. PERMISSIONS • Side panel – shows the viewer next to the page you are on. • Storage – remembers your settings (theme and the remote images option). • Downloads – saves attachments and the "Download all" .zip archive to your computer. The extension does not ask for access to the websites you visit. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I open a .msg file without Outlook? Install the extension, click its icon and drop the file into the side panel. This MSG viewer reads the file itself, so you can view an Outlook msg without the desktop mail app on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS. What is winmail.dat? It is a container (called TNEF) that Outlook sometimes uses when it sends a message in its own rich text format. Other mail programs cannot read it, so the recipient gets one unreadable .dat file instead of the real attachments. Open it here and the original files and text appear in the attachment list. Can I open an .eml file? Yes. This EML viewer works as an eml file reader for messages saved by almost any mail program or webmail. Multipart messages, inline images and attached messages are supported. Is it free? Yes, the extension is free to use. Is there a file size limit? No. Files are processed on your own computer in the background, so even very large messages with big attachments open. The only limit is your computer's memory. Do my emails leave my computer? No. Nothing is uploaded. You can even disconnect from the internet and the viewer keeps working. Can I convert an email to PDF? Yes. Press "Print / PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in the print dialog.
