Scatter: Auto-Close Sleeping Tabs
Overview
Too many tabs scattering your focus? Scatter closes sleeping tabs, saves them as bookmarks for 7 days, then lets them go.
Every open tab is an orbiter: one more thing circling your head, asking for a little attention. Forty of them and your brain is running air traffic control. I have ADHD. I'd keep tabs open "just in case" for weeks. So I built Scatter to quietly clear them out for me. HOW IT WORKS • Chrome already puts tabs to sleep when you ignore them. Scatter closes the ones you haven't opened in 36 hours (you pick the number). • Before closing, it saves each one as a bookmark in a "Recently Closed" folder. Nothing gets lost. • Open it again and the bookmark disappears. Ignore it for 7 days and it lets go for good. • A searchable archive page lets you find anything, filter by site or day, and move links you actually want into a real bookmark folder. WHAT IT NEVER CLOSES Pinned tabs, tabs in groups, the tab you're on, tabs playing audio, and private windows. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Scatter runs entirely in your browser. No account, no analytics, no servers. Your browsing never leaves your computer. It starts paused. Click the icon, set your hours and days, flip on Automatic cleanup, and you're done. Free.
