Side View — Social Post Sidebar
Overview
Open X, Bluesky and Threads post detail in a side column instead of navigating away.
Side View opens a post beside your timeline, without losing your place. Click a post on X and the detail opens in a right-hand column while your timeline stays exactly where it was — scroll position, filter tabs, unread state, all untouched. Want the next one? Click the next post in the feed and the column updates in place. One reading habit, three different homes · X — the detail column takes over the right sidebar, so it reads as part of X's own interface · Bluesky — the same layout, styled to match Bluesky · Threads — reuses a real native Threads column rather than embedding a web page Two layouts, your choice · Replace sidebar — hand the right sidebar to the detail view (default) · Keep sidebar — add a detail column beside the existing sidebar What you can adjust · Maximum detail width, 320–1200 px, fitted to the space available · Compact navigation — keep the left nav as a slim icon rail even with the detail closed · Link interception — whether profiles, hashtags and searches also open in the column (on by default) · Interface language — follow the browser, or pick English / 简体中文 / 繁體中文 / 日本語 About the Threads native column — please read this The native column is created by Threads, and stored in your own Threads account. Side View only reuses it. Two consequences, and they matter: · Turning the extension off does not remove the column · Uninstalling the extension does not remove the column To remove it, use Threads' own column menu. The reason is simple: the column belongs to your account, so it is not ours to delete. Once you remove it, Side View stops using it immediately. We are telling you this plainly rather than burying it. Something that follows you across devices and survives an uninstall is worth knowing about in advance. Privacy No data collection. Side View has no developer-operated server and does no reporting or analytics. Post content is read only from the page you already have open, used to render the column, and is never stored, uploaded or logged. Preferences live in your browser account (chrome.storage.sync, synced across your devices). The one exception is described above: Threads stores the native column configuration in your account. If X changes its DOM, you can correct it yourself under Settings → Advanced → Selector overrides, without waiting for a release. Not affiliated Side View is an independent extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp, Bluesky Social, or Meta Platforms. Platform names appear here only to describe which sites this extension works on.
