Overview

Full page screenshots and screen recording with mic and webcam. Annotate, redact, trim and export. 100% local, no uploads.

Pageroll is a full page screenshot tool and a screen recorder in one extension. Capture a whole web page as one sharp image, or record a tab, a window or your entire screen with your voice and a webcam bubble. Then annotate, redact or trim it and save it as an image or a video. Everything happens on your device: no account, no uploads, no tracking. WHAT'S NEW IN 1.1 • Record a browser tab, a window or the whole screen. Chrome asks you what to share every time. • Tab audio and your microphone, each optional. • Webcam bubble in any corner of the video, round or rounded, in three sizes. • Click highlights: a ring is drawn into the video wherever you click in the recorded tab. • 3-2-1 countdown, pause and resume, and the elapsed time on the toolbar icon. • Video editor: preview the recording, trim the start and the end, then export it. • Videos appear in your library next to your images, with a filter for each type. • Videos are saved on your device every second while you record, so a crash or a closed tab doesn't lose them. CAPTURE A WEB PAGE • Full page: Pageroll scrolls the page for you and stitches it into one tall image. • Visible area: exactly what you see in the window. • Selected area: drag a rectangle, adjust it, then press Enter. • Optional 3, 5 or 10 second delay, for menus and hover effects. • Clean results: sticky headers appear once instead of repeating, lazy-loaded images are loaded first, pages that scroll inside a panel are handled, and output stays sharp on high-resolution displays. • The page is put back exactly as it was. Progress shows on the toolbar icon; press Esc to cancel. RECORD YOUR SCREEN • Pick a tab, a window or your entire screen in Chrome's own sharing dialog. • Tab audio is on by default (keep audio sharing on in Chrome's dialog). Chrome can also share system audio when you share the entire screen on some systems. • Microphone and camera stay off until you turn them on, and Chrome asks for your permission first. While the microphone is on, Pageroll's toolbar icon tells you so. • Click highlights are on by default and work in the tab you start recording from, on secure (https) pages. • Pause, resume, stop and save, or discard, from the Pageroll menu. • Quality 720p, 1080p (default) or 1440p, at 15 or 30 frames per second. A typical 1080p recording takes about 320 MB per hour on your device (more when the picture changes a lot). EDIT • Image editor: crop, rectangle, ellipse, arrow, line, pen, highlighter, text and numbered step markers. • Redact with a solid box or pixelation. Redaction is permanent in every exported file. • Colours, stroke widths, select, move and delete, undo and redo, zoom, and a keyboard shortcut for every tool. • Video editor: play, scrub and trim the start and the end. The start snaps to whole seconds, so trimming never re-encodes your video. SAVE AND SHARE • Save an image as PNG or as JPEG with adjustable quality, turn it into a PDF with pages that fit the image, A4 or Letter, or copy it to the clipboard. • Save a video as MP4 when your browser supports it, otherwise as WebM, or make an animated GIF of up to 60 seconds. The estimated file size shows before you export. • Optional "Save as…" dialog, file name templates such as {title} - {date} {time}, and subfolders inside Downloads. • Very long pages are captured up to 50,000 px of page height; images too large for one file are split into numbered parts. • Free, with no watermark and no sign-up. LIBRARY • Images and videos are kept in a local library with a thumbnail, the date and the size, plus the title and address of the captured page (for a recording, of the tab you started it from, when Pageroll can confirm that this tab was recorded). • Search, filter by type, sort; reopen an image to keep editing it, or a video to trim and export it again. • Download or delete items, or delete them all. Automatic clean-up keeps your latest 100 images by default (you can change that); recordings are never removed by that limit. WORKS THE WAY YOU DO • Toolbar menu, right-click menu and keyboard shortcuts. • After a capture: open the editor, download automatically, or copy to the clipboard. • Optional instant mode: clicking the icon captures the full page right away. • Light and dark theme, and 16 interface languages: pick one in Options, or let Pageroll follow your browser. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Pageroll works only inside your browser and makes no network requests. No account, no analytics, no ads, no remote code. • Your images and videos, and the title and address of the page they come from, are stored only on this device. Exported files contain only the picture and sound: no page title or address is written into them. • The microphone and camera are used only when you turn them on, and only while you record. • Anything you capture or record from an incognito tab is never kept in the library. • Files leave your device only when you download or copy them yourself. • Privacy policy: see the link on this page. PERMISSIONS IN PLAIN WORDS • activeTab: access to the current tab, only after you click the Pageroll icon or a menu item, or press a shortcut. • scripting: runs Pageroll's own bundled scripts on that tab: to scroll it and load its images for a full-page capture and, when you record that tab, to show the countdown and the click rings. • storage and unlimitedStorage: keep your settings and your library on this device, so Chrome doesn't delete large captures or recordings. • downloads: saves the files you export. Chrome lists it as "Manage your downloads". • contextMenus: adds Pageroll to the right-click menu. • offscreen: keeps a recording running in the background after you close the menu or switch tabs. Used only while you record. Version 1.1 shows no new permission warning. The microphone and camera are not requested at install: Chrome asks you the first time you turn them on. GOOD TO KNOW • Chrome doesn't let extensions scroll or run scripts on its own pages (such as chrome:// pages), on the Chrome Web Store or in its PDF viewer. There Pageroll captures the visible area only, and recordings show no countdown or click rings. • To capture files opened from your computer, turn on "Allow access to file URLs" for Pageroll on the extension's details page. • Chrome asks you what to share every time and shows a sharing bar, which you can hide. While you record, Pageroll's toolbar icon shows the recording time. • Click highlights need a secure (https) page; on plain http pages they are not available. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Alt+Shift+1: capture the full page • Alt+Shift+2: capture the visible area • Alt+Shift+3: select an area • Alt+Shift+K: open the Pageroll menu. On its Record tab, press R to start recording. While you record, open it again and press S to stop and save, or Space to pause. • "Capture visible area after a delay", "Start or stop screen recording" and "Pause or resume screen recording" have no default key; you can assign one. Change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. In the editors, press ? to see every shortcut.
