Check every link on the page you're viewing. Working links turn green, redirects yellow, broken links red, right on the page.
Hasten LinkLens checks every link on the page you're looking at and colours it in place. Green means working, yellow means redirected, red means broken. You read the result on the page itself, on the actual anchor text, instead of cross-referencing a list of URLs against the page you're trying to fix. No crawl. No account. No report to wait for. HOW IT WORKS Open the page you want to check. Any page, including staging sites and pages behind a login, because the scan runs in your browser on the page you can already see. Click the LinkLens icon. That's the whole trigger. There's no popup and no Analyze button, because the click already said what you wanted. Each destination is requested and the status that comes back decides the colour. Requests are queued and spaced per site, so a page with hundreds of links doesn't hammer any one destination. The page fills in as answers arrive, with a panel in the corner keeping live counts. FIVE COLOURS, FIVE STATES Green, Working (200). The link answered normally. Nothing to do. Yellow, Redirected (301, 302, 307, 308). The link works, but the request was sent somewhere else. Point the href at the final URL and the hop goes away. Red, Broken (404, 410, 5xx, no response). The link answered with an error, or didn't answer at all. Fix it or remove it. Blue, Unable to verify (401, 403, 429). The site refused the check rather than the link being broken: a bot rule, a login wall, or rate limiting. Reported honestly instead of being called a 404. Grey, Not checked. There was nothing to request. In-page anchors, mailto: and tel: links are left alone rather than reported as failures. That fourth state is the one that matters most. A link checker that reports a Cloudflare challenge as a 404 is a checker people stop trusting, so a blocked check is reported as a blocked check. IN THE PANEL Click any row to list the links in that state, then click an entry to scroll straight to it on the page. Click the eye on a row to hide that colour without re-running. The fastest way to read a busy page is to switch off the colour you're not looking for. Highlight turns all the colours off and back on. Export downloads the full result as CSV. Re-run re-checks the page without reloading it. The footer counts the page four ways: internal, external, dofollow and nofollow. The panel drags by its header, minimises and closes. Close it and the page is exactly as it was. Hover any coloured link for its status in words, its status code, whether it's dofollow or nofollow, and, for a redirect, where it actually ends up. DOFOLLOW AND NOFOLLOW, COUNTED Every link is read for rel="nofollow", "sponsored" and "ugc": the three attributes that stop a link passing ranking signal. The panel shows the split for the whole page, the hover card names the exact attribute on any single link, and both go into the CSV. THE TOOLBAR ICON CARRIES THE HEADLINE The icon badges the number of broken links, so a problem is visible without opening anything. On a page Chrome won't let an extension read, such as chrome:// pages or the Web Store itself, the tooltip says so rather than failing silently. WHO IT'S FOR SEO specialists checking a page before it goes live, or after a migration. Content editors verifying their own outbound links and citations. Developers reviewing the links a template puts in the nav and footer. Anyone who has just taken over a site and needs to know what's already broken. WHAT LEAVES YOUR BROWSER Nothing reaches us. There is no account and no server of ours involved in a scan. Link checks are made by your browser, straight to the destination. The URLs you check are never sent to us. Requests carry no cookies and no referrer, so nothing identifies you to the sites being checked. One honest consequence: links that require you to be signed in answer 401 or 403 and are reported as "unable to verify" rather than working. Sending your session cookies to third-party domains to get a nicer-looking result would be a bad trade. Results live in memory for the tab you analysed and are gone when you close it. The extension requests no storage permission at all. The CSV that Export produces is generated in the page and handed to Chrome's normal download flow. It is never uploaded anywhere. No sign-in, no profile, no analytics, no telemetry, no remote code, no third-party runtime libraries. PERMISSIONS, PLAINLY activeTab: reads the links on the tab you're on, at the moment you click the icon, and scoped to that click. scripting: injects the script that reads the anchors and applies the colours. The extension declares no static content scripts, so nothing runs on any page until you click. Installing LinkLens does not cause a single line of its code to run on the sites you visit. Host access to http and https: the links on a page point at third-party domains that can't be known in advance, so the extension has to be able to request any http or https address. A link checker that can only check pre-approved domains is not a link checker. Responses are never read beyond the status line. file:// and ftp:// are deliberately excluded. webRequest: optional, and not granted at install. Turn on "Exact redirect codes" in settings and it lets LinkLens tell a 301 from a 302 on the requests it makes itself. Every other feature works without it. Hasten LinkLens is a HastenOS extension.
