Like many people, you hoard tabs. 50, 100, 150 open tabs — and you're afraid to close them, because "I might need this later." Tab Librarian is an AI librarian for your tabs. Chat with it in the side panel, and it files your open tabs into a nested bookmark folder structure that matches how you actually think — projects, topics, clients, whatever you tell it. HOW IT WORKS • Describe your world in the chat ("I juggle client work, job hunting, and AI research") and hit Sort • The AI proposes a complete folder structure with every tab assigned — and asks about anything ambiguous instead of guessing • Nothing is applied until you approve. Review every placement, answer questions inline (or file those tabs yourself), uncheck what you don't want • Apply creates real browser bookmarks — they survive restarts and sync natively. Then press "Close sorted tabs" and exhale. DAILY UPKEEP, NOT A ONE-OFF • New tabs pile up → "Sort unsorted only" files them into your existing structure • Drag & drop tabs onto folders, duplicates collapse with a counter, type-ahead folder picker • Right-click any page → "File this page into…" without opening the panel • Can't remember a title? Type what it was about in the search box and press Enter — the AI finds it in your library and says why • Anything you place by hand is never moved by the AI • "Clean up" audits your library: duplicates, stale entries, overloaded folders — always with reasons, always behind review • Close a tab that's in your library and a small prompt asks if you want the bookmark gone too — keep is always the default YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS • Bring your own API key: Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq, local models via Ollama/LM Studio) • Your API key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage and sent only to your chosen AI provider — there is no server of ours to store it on • Tab titles/URLs are sent only to the provider you configure, only when you ask it to sort • See exactly what will be sent before it goes: a preview lists every title and URL, lets you skip items or exclude whole domains, and query strings are stripped by default • No backend, no account, no telemetry.
