TrueScore
Overview
Cut through inflated ratings. See what's actually good on the shopping, travel, film and book sites you already use.
Star ratings are broken the same way everywhere: almost everything sits between 4.0 and 4.8. A 4.3 can be a mass-produced disaster with 10,000 pity reviews or a great product with 200 honest ones, and the stars can't tell you which. TrueScore can. It reads the ratings already on the page and scores how many people loved something against how many hated it, scaled by how many bothered to say so: score = (5★ ratings − 1★ ratings) × (that difference ÷ all ratings) Lukewarm crowds score low, and a high score needs both conviction and volume. Each site adapts this to the data it shows (star histograms, 1–10 ratings, like/dislike counts). Scores appear on the page itself, and lists are re-sorted by them. The toolbar popup lists every supported site. SHOPPING • Search results and product grids sorted by score. • Product pages add, depending on the shop, a score adjusted for how positive the newest reviews are, the share of positive reviews, breakdowns by variation (colour, size) or attribute (quality, fit, durability), and optional AI review summaries. • In a sorted list, a result whose hit rate beats everything ranked above it is tinted green. Press ] and [ to jump between them. TRAVEL AND PLACES • Places on the map: a score from trusted reviewers only (3 or more reviews), and a panel with time filters, topic highlights, review search, AI summaries and questions about the place. • Hotels: search results sorted by score; hotel pages analyse the latest 100 reviews by guest type and room type. • Holiday rentals: stays sorted by score; listing pages add a score and optional AI summaries of guest reviews. FILMS AND BOOKS • Film databases: a score from the full 1–10 histogram, the "More like this" strip re-ranked, and similar titles that score as well or better. • Film diaries: the diary's ratings and the database's 1–10 ratings merged into one score, adjusted by the past week's reviews, plus higher-scoring films of similar length from popular lists. • Books: a score from the rating distribution, plus how positive the newest 100 reviews are. SPORTS • Football stats tables: click any table header to sort (Shift+click sorts across all pages), with a ranking column and points against what the squad's market value predicts. SETUP Every score works straight away, with no account. Two optional extras live in the toolbar popup: • AI summaries and questions on product, stay, book and film pages use your own Gemini (free tier), OpenAI or DeepSeek key. Requests go straight from your browser to that provider. • Place summaries, highlights and questions run on TrueScore's server, which needs the TrueScore password.
