Hackathon Finder
Overview
Automatically discover and get notified about upcoming hackathons in your country. Scans Eventbrite, Luma, Devfolio, and Unstop.
Stop chasing hackathons. Let Hackathon Finder bring them to you. If you love building, competing, and connecting with other developers, you already know the problem: finding hackathons requires constant searching across multiple websites, social media feeds, and mailing lists. Events get announced and fill up fast and most people miss them simply because they were not looking at the right place at the right time. Hackathon Finder solves this completely. It runs quietly in the background of your browser, automatically scanning the web's top hackathon platforms every 4 hours and delivering results directly to you, no searching required. WHAT IT DOES Hackathon Finder is a lightweight Chrome extension that continuously monitors multiple platforms for upcoming hackathons relevant to your country. The moment a new event is discovered, it stores it locally and sends you a browser notification so you never miss an opportunity. Open the popup at any time to browse a clean, organised list of upcoming hackathons, complete with event names, locations, dates, and direct links to register. WHERE IT SEARCHES Hackathon Finder scans four major platforms simultaneously: - Eventbrite: the world's largest event discovery platform - Luma: the go-to platform for tech community events and hackathons - Devfolio: the leading hackathon platform for the developer community - Unstop: a fast-growing platform for competitions and hackathons globally Results from all four sources are merged, de-duplicated, and presented in a single unified feed, so you never see the same event twice. KEY FEATURES 1. Automatic background scanning. Once installed, Hackathon Finder runs on a 4-hour cycle without you having to do anything. It wakes up, scans all sources, stores new results, and goes back to sleep, all without slowing down your browser. 2. Instant notifications. When a new hackathon is found, you receive a browser notification immediately. Click the notification to go directly to the event page and register before spots fill up. 3. Auto-detected location. Hackathon Finder automatically detects your country using IP geolocation on first install. All search results are scoped to your country by default, so you only see events that are relevant to you. You can override this at any time in the settings. 4. Country autocomplete. If you want to search a different country, simply start typing in the settings field and matching country names appear as suggestions, fast and friction-free. 5. Source filter tabs. Filter your event feed by platform, view all results together, or focus on events from Eventbrite, Luma, Devfolio, or Unstop individually. 6. Local-only storage. All data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any external server. Your location and browsing data stay completely private. 7. Seven day automatic cleanup. The local database automatically removes events older than 7 days, keeping your storage lean and your feed fresh without any manual maintenance. 8. On/off toggle. Pause and resume the scanner instantly from the popup with a single toggle. When paused, no background activity occurs and no notifications are sent. 9. Manual scan. Don't want to wait for the next scheduled scan? Hit "Scan now" in the popup to trigger an immediate search across all four sources. WHO IT IS FOR Hackathon Finder is built for developers, designers, students, and anyone who participates in hackathons regularly. Whether you are looking for your first hackathon or your fiftieth, this extension ensures you always have an up-to-date view of what is happening in your country without the noise of social media or the effort of manual searching. PRIVACY Hackathon Finder does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. The only network requests it makes are to public hackathon platforms to fetch event listings, and to a free IP geolocation service (ip-api.com) to detect your country on first install. All event data is stored locally in your browser and is never shared. PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED Storage: to save hackathon results and your settings locally in the browser. Alarms: to schedule the 4-hour background scan cycle. Notifications: to alert you when new hackathons are found. Tabs: to open event pages when you click a notification or an event card. Built with love for the SKOOL community and every developer who has ever missed a great hackathon.
