GuideFlow - Automated Screen-to-Guide Creator
Overview
Capture clicks and tasks on websites and instantly generate step-by-step visual guides with annotated screenshots.
GuideFlow is a lightweight, privacy-first browser extension (Chrome Manifest V3) that turns any repetitive web workflow or multi-step task into a clean, professional, step-by-step visual tutorial—automatically, in real time, as you work. What GuideFlow Does Instead of taking manual screenshots, cropping them in an image editor, drawing arrows, and typing out instructions in a document, GuideFlow works in the background while you perform any task on any website: Automatic Action & Click Capture: Every time you click a button, type in an input field, select a dropdown, or press Enter, GuideFlow logs the action. It captures element labels, button text, accessible ARIA attributes, page titles, and URLs automatically. Instant Natural Language Instructions: Synthesizes clear, human-readable steps on the fly (e.g., Click on "Checkout Now", Enter "user@company.com" into "Email Address"). Built-in privacy protection automatically masks passwords (••••••••) and sensitive inputs. Automated Visual Spotlight Screenshots: Captures high-resolution screenshots at the exact moment of each action. Automatically computes element bounding boxes and renders high-contrast spotlight overlays with numbered step badges directly onto the target element. Built-in Guide Editor & PII Redaction: Opens an interactive in-browser editor immediately after recording. Edit step titles, reorder steps, add custom notes, or draw redaction boxes on screenshots to blur or black out sensitive personal/client information. Manage and delete guides with full library controls. Multi-Format Export: Markdown (.md): Ready to paste into GitHub, Notion, Confluence, Obsidian, or documentation repos. Standalone HTML (.html): Self-contained file with embedded styles and images that anyone can open in their browser without hosting. JSON (.json): Raw structured guide data for developer workflows or custom CMS imports. Print / PDF: Clean, print-friendly layout formatted specifically for standard documentation prints or saving to PDF. Why Users Should Install It 1. Saves Hours on Documentation and Training Writing documentation, onboarding teammates, or explaining software to clients usually takes 15–30 minutes per guide. With GuideFlow, creating a guide takes only as long as performing the task once. The moment you finish the workflow, your complete tutorial is already drafted and illustrated. 2. Zero Setup, Works Right in the Browser No external desktop recording software, no command-line tools, and no cloud subscriptions required. Everything runs locally in Chrome or Edge with an unobtrusive on-page recording pill and popup controls. 3. 100% Private and Offline-Capable Unlike third-party cloud tools that upload your screen captures and sensitive company data to remote servers: All screenshots, metadata, and guides are stored locally on your device via browser IndexedDB. No telemetry, no external accounts, and no data leaves your browser unless you choose to export it. 4. Perfect for Knowledge Sharing and Support Customer Support & Success Teams: Quickly record answers to "How do I do X?" and reply with a complete visual tutorial in seconds. Product & QA Teams: Capture reproducible bug steps with exact screenshots and element selectors attached to every click. Operations & Team Leads: Build internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles without friction.
