GSC 16-Month Backup (Unofficial) is a tool for "locally archiving" Google Search Console (GSC) data. It helps you save data monthly, allowing for long-term retention and export, even though GSC only displays approximately 16 months of historical data. Important Notes: - This is not an official Google product and is not affiliated with Google in any way. - You need to have access to the corresponding Search Console site. - This extension uses read-only permissions to access GSC data and will not modify your site/settings. ——— Core Features 1. Local Archiving (Viewable even beyond 16 months) - Archives GSC data to your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). - As long as you continue to archive monthly, you can save historical data cumulatively, even if it's "expired and not visible" in GSC, you can still view and export it locally. 2. Supports Multiple Dimensions (Selectable as needed) - Monthly totals - Queries (Top N) - Pages (Top N) - Devices (Desktop/Mobile/Tablet) - Countries/Regions (Top N, automatically displays country names in your local language) - Search Result Appearance Types (Top N) - Daily data Note: Top N means that when the data volume is large, only the top N rows are archived; N can be set in the interface (up to 10,000 rows, subject to GSC API limitations). 3. One-Click Export - Export all (JSON) - Export all (Excel compatible .xls) - Export all (LibreOffice .ods) Also supports exporting detailed data for a specific month and dimension. 4. Batch Archiving (Monthly Range) - You can select the start and end months to archive data for a period of time to your local storage in one go. - You can select the dimensions to archive, avoiding wasting time/quota on unnecessary data. 5. Automatic Archiving (Scheduled Task) - Supports setting automatic execution time (based on Chrome alarms). - You can select which dimensions to automatically archive and parameters such as the number of Top N rows. - Optional "Download and Save" capability: Automatically saves exported files to your browser's download directory (requires you to manually grant download permissions). ——— How to Use (Quick Start) 1. Open the extension panel and click "Authorize Google (OAuth)" to complete login authorization. 2. Click "Fetch Site List" to select your Property (site). 3. Select the month and click "Sync and Archive This Month's Summary" or go to "Batch Archiving (Month Range)" to archive multiple months at once. 4. For long-term retention: Enable scheduled archiving in "Automatic Archiving Settings" (recommended to run monthly). Suggested Strategy: - Archive at least once a month to avoid data becoming unavailable in GSC after 16 months. - For websites with large amounts of data, you can start by archiving only totals + necessary dimensions, and then gradually add detailed data such as queries/pages later. ——— Permissions and Data Explanation (What you care about most) - Identity: Used for Google OAuth authorization to obtain access tokens (read-only access to GSC). - Storage: Used to save archived data locally (in your browser). - Scheduled Tasks (alarms): Used for automatic archiving at scheduled times. - Optional permission: Downloads: Used only when you enable "Automatic Download and Save," to save exported files to your local download directory.
