Overview

Citation manager for research papers: save any article, its citation details and its PDF to your Grongy library.

Grongy Citation Manager saves the research paper you are reading into your own library, with its title, authors, year, journal, DOI, abstract and PDF, in one click. Open an article, press Save, and the reference is stored with everything a bibliography needs. You never copy those details by hand again. WHAT IT DOES • Saves from journal pages, preprint servers, library records and PDF files open in your browser. • Recognises a PDF open in your browser by its own DOI and title. • Keeps the PDF with the reference wherever the page lets your browser fetch it, using your own access on that site. • Gets the PDFs Grongy could not download: from a document's library, one click asks your browser to open each paper's page in a tab beside Grongy and bring back the PDF the publisher gives you there. Never past a sign-in or a paywall. • Saves several papers at once from a results page. • Right-click a link to save the paper behind it, without opening the page. • Adds your tags, a note and the document it belongs to as you save. • Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+G. YOUR LIBRARY, ON EVERY COMPUTER Saved papers appear in My Library in your Grongy account, wherever you sign in. Sort them into folders, read and highlight the PDFs with notes tied to their pages, search inside them, find duplicates, see which papers in your library cite each other, and export the library for use elsewhere. WRITING WITH WHAT YOU SAVED Grongy is the writing workspace around that library: an editor that inserts your citations, builds the reference list in the style your department asks for (on the paid plans), and checks each citation against the paper it cites. PRIVACY The extension reads a page only when you ask it to, and sends what it finds to one place: your own Grongy account. When you ask Grongy for PDFs it could not download, it opens each paper's own page in a tab, takes the PDF and closes the tab. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, and nothing is sold to anyone. Fetching PDFs from publisher sites is a separate permission you grant yourself; the extension works without it. Free to install. A free Grongy account is needed to save papers.
