)Overview
A minimalist roguelike game managing Canada's energy system.
Grid North is a minimalist strategy roguelike where you manage Canada’s energy system one decade at a time. There is no perfect solution—only trade-offs. Each run forces you to balance reliability (keeping the lights on), emissions (meeting climate targets), and economic impact. Unpredictable events—from polar vortexes to global trade wars—will reshape your board, requiring you to adapt your strategy on the fly. KEY FEATURES: • Roguelike Strategy: Every run presents new regional conditions and events. • The Trilemma: Balance Stability, Emissions, and Impact. You can't maximize all three. • Regional Diversity: Manage the unique strengths of British Columbia, the Prairies, Ontario, Quebec, the Atlantic, and the North. • Tech Tree: Deploy everything from Hydro and Nuclear to SMRs and Carbon Capture. • Quick Sessions: Deep strategy designed to be played in 10-minute intervals. ABOUT THE GAME: Grid North treats energy as a system, not a single issue. It illustrates how energy reliability underpins economic well-being and how Canada’s energy decisions impact the global transition. Success requires coordination, diversification, and long-term thinking—not quick fixes. No data is collected. This game runs entirely offline in your browser.
