GreerGuard protects you from browser-based attacks that trap you on a page, and try to convince you that your computer has been locked or infected. Browser trap detection Some malicious pages force your browser into fullscreen and hide your cursor so you feel stuck, and display fake system alerts with countdown timers. GreerGuard detects this pattern in real time. When a non-video page enters fullscreen with the cursor hidden, it automatically exits fullscreen and redirects you to a clear warning page explaining what happened and reassuring you that your computer is fine. Page audit Tap "Audit & Report This Site" on any page to run an on-demand inspection. The audit checks for hidden cursors, scroll locking, interaction-blocking overlays, exit dialog traps, granted browser permissions (camera, microphone, clipboard, and others), third-party scripts, external iframes, cookies, and local storage usage. High-risk findings can be submitted as a report to GreerGuard to help protect other users. Threat history Every blocked threat is logged locally with a timestamp and domain. The extension icon badge shows how many threats were stopped today. Open the full history page to review all past events, with no limit on how far back you can look. Site management Mark any domain as trusted from the popup and it will never be warned or blocked again. Remove trusted sites at any time from the Manage Sites panel. Continue anyway If you choose to continue past a block, GreerGuard grants a 60-second grace period for that domain and follows up with a quiet prompt on the next page load asking whether the site turned out to be safe, so you can trust it permanently or close the tab in one tap. Android sync Sign in with your GreerGuard account to send blocked threat events to the GreerGuard Android app in real time, keeping your protection history in one place across devices. How it works GreerGuard watches for behavioral signals only; It does not use domain blocklists or scan page text for keywords. All detection runs on your device. No browsing data is collected or transmitted. Permissions used Read and change data on all websites: required to observe page behavior and inject the warning interface Manage extensions: used only to read the name and permissions of installed extensions for the audit feature; GreerGuard cannot install, remove, or modify any extension Tabs and navigation: used to track redirect chains and navigate to the block page
