Overview

Closes tabs from the sites you choose and keeps them in a list you can search and reopen.

Grater closes the tabs you pick and keeps them in a list you can search and open again. You choose which sites to tidy up. Sites you leave unchecked stay open. HOW A CLEAN-UP WORKS Click the Grater icon to see how many tabs you have open. Select "Scan open pages" and choose Allow to get a breakdown by site. This reads addresses only, not page content. Select "Tidy up open tabs" for a list of sites, all checked at first. Uncheck any you want to leave alone, then select "Save and close". If the same page is open more than once, you are asked first, unless you chose to stop asking for that site. You are also asked first about a page that looks like an order confirmation. WHAT STAYS OPEN Mail, chat and meeting tabs, pinned tabs, tabs playing sound, browser pages, and banking, money, health and government sites stay open. So does a page with a login field, though login fields that do not show up right when a page loads can be missed. YOUR LIST IS SAVED AS FILES When you tidy up, your list is also saved as two files: a data file and a readable one in Markdown, a plain text format any text editor can open. If you allow downloads, they go into a Grater folder inside your Downloads folder, and new files are also written after your list changes. If not, they are ordinary browser downloads. The files hold your list, not the full text of each saved page. You can load a saved file back into Grater from the Saved pages screen. FIND IT AGAIN Search your saved pages by title or address, and sort them by newest, oldest, title or site. Open one again, or read what was saved. THE PAGE, NOT JUST THE LINK On sites you allow, Grater saves the page text, plus what you had typed and where you had scrolled to. Open the page from your list and the saved scroll position and typed text are put back. On some pages, only part of what you typed comes back. Password, hidden and file fields are not saved. You allow sites one at a time or together. If a site is not allowed yet, you are asked before it is closed: allow it to save its content, or close it with only the title and address. For a page saved with only its title and address, "Get page content" opens it in the background and reads it, on a site you allow. Grater does not touch banking, money, health or government sites. Its built-in list cannot cover every bank, so some will be missing. You can add your own sites to it. FREE AND PAID Most features are free. Tidying up, searching by title or address and reading saved content are free, with no ads. One part is paid: searching inside the text of the pages you have saved. There are two memberships, Lite and Supporter. Supporter has the same features as Lite and is for people who want to support development. Lite: US$3.99 per month or US$39.99 per year. Supporter: US$5.99 per month or US$59.99 per year. Prices exclude tax. The payment page shows the amount, currency and any tax before you pay. A membership renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime. We do not refund payments, though Link (Stripe), which handles payments, may refund under its own terms. This does not limit rights you have under laws that apply to you and cannot be excluded by agreement. Sold by D.Parfum LLC, not by Google. Terms of sale and refund policy: https://grater.800.co.jp/terms Privacy policy: https://grater.800.co.jp/privacy PERMISSIONS Required: storage (without the browser's usual storage limit) and scripting, to keep your list on this computer and read pages on sites you allow. Optional, and your browser asks you first: tabs, downloads, and access to the sites you allow. WHERE YOUR PAGES GO Your list, saved page text and typed input stay on your computer, in this browser's extension storage. Grater does not send the contents of pages or the URLs you visit. What it sends to its billing server is listed in the privacy policy linked above. The screen is in English or Japanese, light or dark. Deleted something by mistake? Deleted items stay in the Deleted items list for 30 days. Tell us what is missing. There is a feedback link inside.
