Overview

Block distracting sites with timed breaks and cooldowns

šŸŽÆ GORUDO: THE WAY OF THE GOAL āš ļø CRITICAL SETUP (DO THIS FIRST) āš ļø To use this extension, you MUST pin it to your toolbar: 1) Go to chrome://extensions/ or click the Puzzle Piece icon. 2) Find GORUDO, click ā€œDetailsā€ and activate ā€œPin to toolbarā€. 3) The GORUDO icon will then stay visible next to the address bar. This is where you set goals, block sites and manage breaks. -------------------------------------------------- 🄷 WIN THE BATTLE FOR YOUR ATTENTION The modern computer is both your greatest tool and your most dangerous enemy. You sit down to follow your Path, but the Focus Saboteurs are only one click away—lurking behind every tab, waiting to hijack your dopamine and steal your time. When distraction is this easy, willpower alone isn't enough. You need a Dojo Master that guards the gate. GORUDO doesn't just block sites; it introduces the "Digital Speed Bumps" necessary to snap you out of autopilot and return you to the Way. Gorudo is not just a distraction blocker—it is your digital Sensei. Built on the philosophy of Mindful Friction, it acknowledges that everyone needs a break, but ensures those breaks are earned, not mindlessly taken. Unlike "hard" blockers that you simply disable when you lose willpower, Gorudo stays on. It doesn’t judge, but it makes you aware of every choice, holding you accountable to the path you set for yourself. šŸ± THE GORUDO TOOLKIT ‣ FOCUS SABOTEURS: Identify the sites that drain your spirit and bar their entry. ‣ APPROVED PATHS: Whitelist subdomains (like music.youtube.com) so you can work without falling into the main-site abyss. ‣ TAKE BREAKS, REFOCUS: Breaks aren't free. Complete a challenge to prove your intent. Once the break ends, you are locked into the Dojo—no new breaks until the cooldown expires. ‣ JUDGMENTAL EMOJIS: Watch your progress tracker get increasingly disappointed (🧐 → 😱 → 🄶) as you snooze your productivity away. ‣ GOAL-LOCKED REST: No breaks allowed until you've logged at least 3 daily goals. Discipline first. Intentional, always. šŸŽØ RETRO PHILOSOPHY, MODERN PRIVACY ā—˜ 100% PRIVATE: Your goals, "Focus Saboteurs," and timeline stay on your machine. No servers, no tracking, no data harvesting. ā—˜ ZERO-DEFERENCE ACCOUNTABILITY: Gorudo doesn't beg you to work; it simply makes procrastination slightly more annoying than focusing. šŸ’Œ A MESSAGE FROM THE ā€œDEVELOPERā€ GORUDO is a simple passion project to help me master my own focus—and it worked. This tool has been a game-changer for my personal discipline, and I hope it helps you find your own. Since this is a labor of love, I value your feedback. Feel free to leave a rating or review here, or send me a direct email (developer's email at the bottom of the page) if you have feedback or even a story about how GORUDO helped you reclaim your time. I'll be very happy to read it. And YES, I did it with gen AI šŸ¤– šŸ™‹ FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) Q: Why does Gorudo ask for "scary" permissions like "Read browsing history"? > A valid concern, here is what it means: - "Read browsing history" simply lets Gorudo see the URL you are typing so it knows if you’ve wandered onto a Focus Saboteur’s territory. - "Block content" is the "Judo" move required to stop a site from loading. We have ZERO interest in your data. Everything stays on your local machine. What happens in the Dojo, stays in the Dojo. Q: Not a question: this UI looks like a 1995 Geocities page 🤮 > It’s so visually unappealing that you’ll actually want to close the tab and go back to work. That’s not a bug; it’s an accidentally brilliant feature. You’re welcome. Q: Is there a mobile version ? > WIP: the V0 is called "turn your phone off and leave it in another room". Q: Why can't I just take a break immediately? > That is the "Constructive Resistance". By forcing a challenge, Gorudo breaks your "autopilot" browsing. It gives your brain a second to ask: Do I actually need a break, or am I just bored? Q: What if I have an emergency and need a blocked site? > Gorudo never truly locks you out. You can always take a break or even "Reset Cooldown" by completing a harder challenge (30 vocabulary words). It’s about making the wrong choice difficult, not impossible. Q: Why do I need to set 3 goals? > To nudge you to define a daily intent. Q: Does it work in Incognito mode? > Only if you allow it. Go to chrome://extensions, click "Details" on Gorudo, and toggle "Allow in Incognito." (Warning: Your Focus Saboteurs will be waiting for you there, too.) Q: Does Gorudo sync across my computers? > No. To prioritize Total Privacy, your data never leaves your computer or touches a cloud server. Your discipline is local. Q: Will Gorudo eat my RAM like a hungry digital Godzilla? > No. Gorudo is lightweight and built on Manifest V3. It only acts when you navigate to a Saboteur. The rest of the time it is silently meditating in the background. Master your focus. Respect your rest. Protect your goals.
