Gopher Reader

Read the current web page as local, distraction-free text and numbered links.

Gopher Reader turns the page you are on into clean, distraction-free text with numbered links, in a new tab. The original page stays untouched. Click the toolbar button or press Alt+Shift+0. Switch between Article, Full page and Links views. Search the text, change font size, wrapping and light or dark appearance, export the text to a file, and bookmark the source page. Images become short descriptions and form contents are never copied. Everything happens locally. The extension makes no network requests, and nothing leaves your computer. Optional, Linux only: with the free Gopher Client desktop app installed, "Open in Gopher app" saves the page and serves it over the real Gopher protocol on your own computer, so saved pages stay readable offline and link to each other.
