Small fruit, growing in clusters close to the trunk. When ripe, it is light yellow, has a strong sour taste, very characteristic. The leaves are small, growing symmetrically on both sides of the branches. The tree is often grown in the South of Vietnam, especially popular in rural areas. Eaten fresh (for those who like a strong sour taste). Processed into jam, dried fruit, gooseberry juice or soaked in sugar. Used as an ingredient in cooking dishes (such as sour soup or braised gooseberry fish).
