Overview

Adds a summary panel to Google Scholar profiles: 5-year metrics, top-journal papers, retraction check, keywords and yearly charts.

Google Scholar Profile Summary adds a clean summary panel above the publication list on Google Scholar author profile pages, so you can size up a researcher without counting papers by hand. WHAT YOU GET • Whole career and last 5 years, side by side: papers, citations and h-index, plus the publication year range. • Top-journal papers: how many papers appeared in Nature Index journals, FT50 journals and UTD24 journals, for the whole career and the last five years. • Keywords: the most common words in the paper titles, merged with the researcher's own interest tags. • Retraction check: one click looks every paper up on Crossref (which carries Retraction Watch data) and lists retracted papers and expressions of concern, with a link to each notice. • Venue types: an estimate of how many papers appeared in journals, conferences, preprint servers, working papers (unpublished manuscripts and discussion papers) and books/chapters, worked out from the venue text on the profile. • Annual papers: a bar chart of papers published per year, with a line showing the citations those papers have received so far. Click a bar to list that year's papers, most cited first, with links back to Google Scholar. • Annual citations: a bar chart of citations per year, with the most recent five years highlighted. • Download JSON: save the whole summary and the full paper list (title, authors as shown, venue, year, citations) to a file on your computer. HOW THE NUMBERS ARE WORKED OUT • "Last 5 years" means papers published from five years ago up to the current year. Its h-index uses those papers' total citations, so it differs from the "Since" column in Scholar's own table. • Venue types are a best guess from the text Scholar shows (for example a volume and issue pattern means journal). Venues that cannot be recognised are listed as Unknown. • The journal lists (Nature Index, FT50, UTD24) are built into the extension and were copied in October 2026. A paper counts when the journal name on the profile matches a listed journal, so unusual spellings may be missed. • Authors are used exactly as Scholar shows them, so long author lists may be cut short. PRIVACY Everything is calculated in your browser. The extension has no accounts and no analytics, and it never sends anything to the developer. It runs only on Google Scholar profile pages. Besides reading your profile's paper list from Google Scholar itself, it makes one other kind of request, and only when you click "Check retractions": the title and first-author surname of each paper are sent to Crossref (api.crossref.org) to look for retraction notices. Google Scholar Profile Summary is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google.
