Google Chat Enhancer fixes all of it — and adds the polish Chat is missing. Install it once. Writing gets faster, your screen gets private, threads become unmissable, and long messages stop eating your scroll wheel. No account, no setup, no tracking. ═══════════════════════════════ NUMBERED LISTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK ═══════════════════════════════ Google Chat has no real numbered lists. This extension adds them. TYPE "1." AND GO — Type "1. " and press Enter; the next number appears automatically. Keep typing, the list keeps counting. TAB TO INDENT — Tab indents to lettered sub-items (a. b. c.), Shift+Tab outdents, and everything renumbers itself when you insert, delete, or reorder items. PASTE A LIST, KEEP THE LIST — Paste a numbered list from a doc or another app and it stays a clean, live list you can keep editing. FOUR NUMBER STYLES — Plain (1. 2. 3.), circled (① ② ③), filled (❶ ❷ ❸) or parenthesized (⑴ ⑵ ⑶). Sent as Unicode text, so recipients see them perfectly — no plugin required on their end. By default, a Google Chat desktop notification shows the full message text — so anyone glancing at your screen in a meeting, on a call, or over your shoulder reads it too. Private Notifications replaces them with a clean alert that shows you WHO messaged you, never WHAT they said. SEE WHO, NOT WHAT — The notification shows the sender (and space) so you know it's worth checking — the message body stays hidden until you open Chat. CLICK TO JUMP STRAIGHT IN — Click the notification and it opens the exact conversation in your already-open Chat tab, just like clicking a real one. YOUR SOUND, YOUR HOURS — Keep Chrome's native chime or pick a custom sound (chime, ping, pop, bell), and set quiet hours so notifications go silent when you need them to. 100% LOCAL — The message text is read in your browser only to strip it out, then discarded. Nothing is ever stored or sent anywhere.
