Overview
Adds a one-click copy button to every message in Google Chat.
Copying a message in Google Chat means dragging a selection across it, usually catching the sender's name and the timestamp, and often losing the formatting of a code block on the way. This extension replaces all of that with one button. Hover any message and you'll see a copy button sitting in Chat's own toolbar, right beside Reply and the More actions menu. Click it and the whole message is on your clipboard. WHAT IT DOES • One click copies the entire message — no selecting, no dragging. • Code blocks and multi-line messages paste back exactly as written, with every line break intact. • The sender's name and timestamp are left out by default, so you get the message and nothing else. Prefer to keep them? There's a toggle. • A green check confirms the copy; if something goes wrong you see red instead of a silent failure. • Works on chat.google.com and on Chat inside Gmail. • Follows Chat's own light and dark theme, not your operating system's — the button looks native either way. SETTINGS Click the toolbar icon for two switches: • Show copy button — the master switch. Turn it off and the buttons disappear immediately. • Include sender & time — keeps the name and timestamp in the copied text. Changes apply live. No reloading the tab. PRIVACY • Your messages are never read, stored, or transmitted anywhere. The text goes from the message straight to your clipboard, in your browser, and nowhere else. • No account access, no sign-in, no analytics, no external servers. • The only thing saved is your two toggle settings, which sync through your Chrome profile. The extension asks for just two permissions: "storage" to remember those toggles, and "activeTab" so the popup can tell you whether the current tab is a Chat tab. BUILT TO SURVIVE GOOGLE'S UPDATES Google Chat's CSS class names are scrambled and change with every deploy, so this extension doesn't rely on them. It finds the toolbar by the accessibility labels on Chat's own buttons — "Reply in thread", "More actions" — which are stable because screen readers depend on them. Open source. Found a bug or a message it copies wrong? Reports are welcome.
