Auto Recorder – Meeting Recorder for Google Meet, Zoom & Teams
Overview
Auto-record Google Meet, Zoom & Teams meetings to HD MP4 on your PC, or with OBS Studio. No bot joins, no account, no cloud.
Never forget to press record again. Auto Recorder is a meeting recorder for Chrome that notices when your Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams call starts, records it, and saves the video to your computer when the meeting ends. No bot joins your call. No account. No cloud upload. Your recordings stay on your PC. ★ HOW IT WORKS 1. Join your meeting as usual. 2. Auto Recorder detects the call and shows a short countdown on the page, with a Cancel button. 3. Recording starts. A live timer and a red REC badge show it's running. 4. Leave the meeting – the recording stops and is saved as an MP4 file. Chrome asks for one click before a browser extension can capture a tab or screen. So when a meeting is detected, the Auto Recorder icon turns into a one-click record button (or press Alt+Shift+R). With OBS Studio, start and stop are fully hands-free. ★ WHO IT'S FOR • Remote and hybrid teams – keep a record of stand-ups, client calls and decisions • Students – record online classes and lectures and rewatch them before exams • Teachers and trainers – save live sessions and webinars for anyone who missed them • Freelancers, consultants and recruiters – record interviews and client meetings for accurate notes • UX and market researchers – record user interviews without a recording bot changing the conversation • OBS Studio users and creators – let your meetings start and stop OBS recordings automatically ★ TWO WAYS TO RECORD Built-in Chrome recording – no extra software • Record your whole screen or just the meeting tab • Your microphone and the meeting audio are mixed together, with a limiter so loud moments don't distort • Live audio level bars, so you can see your voice and the other participants are being captured • HD video: 720p, 1080p (default) or 1440p at 30 fps • MP4 (H.264) that plays everywhere, smaller AV1 MP4, or WebM (VP9) OBS Studio mode – optional, for more control • Starts and stops OBS recordings through the OBS WebSocket (v5), password supported • Lock a scene collection, profile and scene: OBS is switched back to them before every recording, whatever you changed since • Can open OBS when a meeting starts and close it when the recording is saved (Windows, macOS and Linux; small helper installed once) • Ready-made OBS meeting profiles (1080p and 1440p) and a meeting scene collection in the setup guide • If OBS isn't running: ask you, record with Chrome instead, or skip – your choice ★ NEVER LOSE A MEETING • Crash-safe: the recording is written to disk every couple of seconds. If Chrome or your PC crashes, it's recovered automatically the next time Chrome starts • Save to Downloads, choose each time, or pick any folder on your PC. If Chrome withdraws folder access, the recording goes to Downloads instead – it's never thrown away • Record limit and "still recording" reminders, so a forgotten recording doesn't run all night • Pause and resume (Alt+Shift+P); paused time isn't counted • Wait until others join (optional), so empty meeting rooms aren't recorded ★ FITS YOUR WORKFLOW • Add any web-based meeting or webinar site with one click • Per-site rules: always or never record a site, and give it its own capture source, start delay and save folder • File names work like OBS Studio's: date and time codes, plus the meeting site and title • Recent recordings list with "Show in folder" • Keyboard shortcuts and notifications you can switch on or off one by one • Export and import your settings • Light, dark or system theme; works with a keyboard and screen readers ★ PRIVATE BY DESIGN Auto Recorder has no servers. Your recordings and OBS password stay on your computer. Your settings stay in Chrome and sync only through your own Chrome account, if you use Chrome sync. There is no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking and no upload. The only connection it makes is to OBS Studio on your own computer (localhost). It looks at meeting pages only to tell when a call starts and ends, and only on meeting sites and the sites you add. ★ GOOD TO KNOW • Automatic detection works for meetings in Chrome: Google Meet, the Zoom web client and Microsoft Teams on the web. The Zoom and Teams desktop apps aren't detected, but you can still record them by pressing Start (Screen mode or OBS). • Built-in recording works in Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Opening and closing OBS automatically works on Windows, macOS and Linux, not on ChromeOS. • Recording laws differ by country. Many require everyone's consent. Tell participants you are recording and follow your organisation's rules. Questions or problems? Open the setup guide from the "?" button in the extension. Auto Recorder is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Zoom, Microsoft or the OBS Project. Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and OBS Studio are trademarks of their respective owners.
