Overview

Lock normal web browsing behind a password with an offline Recovery Key.

# GoldLock — Chrome Web Store Listing ## Short description Lock normal web browsing behind a password with an offline Recovery Key and a modern dark-gold interface. ## Detailed description GoldLock adds a password lock to normal web browsing in Chrome. It provides a Persian/English interface, a modern dark-gold design, inline settings, password visibility controls, optional History protection, and an offline Recovery Key. ### Offline Recovery Key During initial setup, GoldLock generates a secure Recovery Key. Save it in a safe place. If the password is forgotten, the Recovery Key can be entered from the lock screen to set a new password. No account, email address, or recovery server is required. GoldLock stores only salted password and Recovery Key verifiers locally in Chrome extension storage; plaintext credentials are not persisted. A successful Recovery Key reset rotates the Recovery Key. ### Basic Protection When enabled, GoldLock redirects Chrome's extension management page to the GoldLock lock screen while the browser is locked. This is an in-extension protection layer and does not provide the guarantees of Chrome Managed Policy. ### Chrome Managed Protection For administrators who need stronger anti-tamper controls, GoldLock can display the current managed-policy status and provides configuration guidance for Chrome's `ExtensionSettings` policy. A force-installed Web Store extension cannot be disabled or removed through the normal Chrome extension UI while the administrator policy remains enforced. The policy itself is configured outside the extension. ## Single purpose GoldLock is a browser access-locking extension that protects normal web browsing behind a user-set password. ## Permission notes for the Chrome Web Store - `storage`: stores the local password/recovery verifiers and user preferences. - `tabs`: tracks the active tab and restores navigation after unlock. - `webNavigation`: detects navigation to protect tabs while GoldLock is locked. - `management`: reads the extension's managed-install status for the read-only Managed Protection indicator. - Host permissions for `http://*/*` and `https://*/*`: required to detect and protect normal web browsing pages while the browser is locked. ## Privacy GoldLock does not require account creation, email, analytics, advertising, or a remote recovery service. ## Release Version 1.1.9.
