Overview
Checks that a page's Google tags respect Consent Mode and send enhanced conversions. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Velo Privacy Inspector helps developers, marketers, and site owners check how Google Consent Mode v2 and Google Ads enhanced conversions behave on a live webpage. The extension opens in Chrome’s side panel so you can inspect the page alongside your website and consent banner. **What it checks** When you press **Scan this page**, Velo reloads the active tab, observes Google tag network requests for 10 seconds, and reads the consent commands in `window.dataLayer`. It then evaluates four technical checks: • **CM-001 — Google tags use Consent Mode:** Checks whether Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Floodlight, and Google Tag Manager requests carry a consent state (`gcs` or `gcd`), or whether valid consent commands exist in the data layer. It also detects if an ad or tracker blocker prevented the Google tag from running. • **CM-002 — Consent Mode v2 advertising signals:** Checks whether `ad_user_data` and `ad_personalization` are configured alongside `ad_storage` and `analytics_storage`. • **CM-003 — Consent defaults set before Google tags:** Checks the order of events to confirm the first Google tag request already carries default consent states rather than firing before defaults are set. • **EC-001 — Enhanced conversions on a Google Ads conversion:** Includes an interactive **Test a form** tool that watches the tab for up to 5 minutes across page navigations while you submit your own form, then checks whether the conversion request carries user-provided data (`em`) and how it respects `ad_user_data` consent. Each check shows the observed request timing, decoded consent states, plain-language explanations, and step-by-step fix instructions, with optional JSON report export. **Privacy and local processing** All analysis runs locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to Velo or any external server. Scan results are held only in `chrome.storage.session` and are cleared when the tab or Chrome closes. For enhanced conversions, Velo records only whether the `em` parameter is present, empty, or absent—the hash itself is never stored, shown, or exported. *Note: Velo performs technical measurement checks on Google tags. It does not assess legal compliance or certify GDPR or ePrivacy conformance.*
