Accessibility & Contrast Checker — WCAG, free
Overview
Accessibility and contrast problems on the page you are on. axe-core WCAG A/AA rules, every element, free. Nothing is uploaded.
One click runs axe-core's WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules on the page you are looking at and shows you every problem it finds, worst first, with the element, the reason and a link to how to fix it. axe-core is the open-source engine used by the professional tools — the same checks, without the paywall. EVERY ISSUE IT FINDS, FREE. Not the first ten. Not a sample. Every rule it runs, every element, with a "show on page" button that outlines the exact element in red. CONTRAST DONE PROPERLY. Every contrast failure shows the two colours axe measured, the ratio found and the ratio needed, with the lower large-text threshold applied where it should be. A built-in calculator checks any two CSS colours against AA, AAA and the 3:1 rule for buttons and icons. WHAT IT DOES NOT READ, IT COUNTS AND TELLS YOU. This version checks the page itself, including inside open web components. It does not read content embedded from another page — a frame, or an object or embed holding a document — and it does not read inside a closed web component. Both are COUNTED, and the popup, the HTML report and the CSV all say how many were skipped, so a page whose content sits inside one does not come back looking clean when it was never examined. Open an embedded page in its own tab to check it there. The count describes what was found when the scan finished; it is not a completeness guarantee. WHAT IT CANNOT DECIDE, IT TELLS YOU. Text over an image, a duplicated id that ARIA points at — where axe cannot be sure, the rule goes in a separate "needs a human to check" list rather than being hidden or guessed at. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR BROWSER. No server, no account, no analytics, no payment. The check runs inside the page, in your browser, and the results stay there. The extension makes no network requests at all. EVERYTHING, FREE • axe-core's standard WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules (63 of them in axe 4.13) • Every issue, every element, no cap • Outline any single issue on the page • Contrast calculator with pass/fail for AA, AAA and non-text • Export the report as CSV (one row per element), HTML (share or print) or JSON • Outline the issues on the page at once, numbered and coloured by severity (the worst 500 on a page with more than that) • For contrast failures, the closest darker or lighter shade that passes • axe's best-practice rules on top of WCAG, if you switch them on Suggested keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+A. Chrome only binds it if nothing else has it; set your own at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Automated checks cannot find every accessibility problem. This tool is for finding the ones they can, quickly — not for certifying a page.
