Overview

Save an entire webpage as a single PNG, from the top all the way down to the footer.

Full Page Capture saves an entire webpage as one PNG image, including everything you'd normally have to scroll to see. Click the extension icon, press "Capture full page" and wait a few seconds. It scrolls down the page on its own, takes a screenshot of each screen and joins them into one picture. When it's finished, Chrome asks where you want to save the file. I built it because I was tired of taking six screenshots of a long page and gluing them together in an image editor. It's useful for saving articles, receipts and order confirmations, sending a whole page to a designer or developer, or keeping a copy of a page before it changes. A few details: • You can see how far along it is in the popup ("Capturing part 3 of 9..."). If you close the popup, the capture keeps going. • Sticky headers, cookie bars and chat buttons only show up once instead of in every part of the image. • Scrollbars are hidden while it captures, so they don't end up in the picture. • After saving, the page scrolls back to where you were. • The image uses your screen's real resolution, so it stays sharp on high-DPI displays. Privacy: the extension only works on the tab you click it on, and only when you click it. It doesn't collect or send any data, there's no account and no tracking. The image goes straight from your browser to your computer. What doesn't work (yet): • Chrome doesn't allow extensions on its own pages (chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store), so you can't capture those. • Infinite scroll feeds and some lazy-loaded pages might not load everything. • Only the visible width is captured. Content that scrolls sideways gets cut off. • Very long pages (more than about 30,000 pixels) take longer and use a lot of memory. You'll see a warning when that happens. If a page doesn't come out right, let me know which site it was through the support tab and I'll have a look.
