Why it still works on real, customised sites: when someone builds on a template and swaps in their own images, text and colours, the underlying Framer component structure mostly stays put. The extension matches on that structure, and weights rare, template-specific components the most, so a heavily edited site can still be traced back. When nothing matches well enough, it tells you straight rather than guessing. Everything runs on your machine.
