Overview
Anonymize selected text and get live PII warnings in AI chats and webmail — processed on-device by the DataAnonymiser app.
Keep personal data out of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail and Outlook. DataAnonymiser finds names, email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs and ID numbers in your text and replaces them with placeholders like [first_name] before you hit send. The anonymization runs in the DataAnonymiser desktop app on your own computer, not in the cloud. WHAT IT DOES • Live PII warnings as you type or paste: in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail and Outlook, the extension checks your message and flags personal data right in the text box, with a one-click "Anonymise" fix. • Send button paused while a warning is showing, so a prompt with personal data doesn't go out by accident. Anonymize it or dismiss the warning to carry on. • Restore the real details in the AI's answer: after you send an anonymized prompt, the reply gets a Restore button that puts the original names and details back into the answer on your screen. The AI only ever sees placeholders: reversible pseudonymization without a cloud service in the middle. • Anonymize text on any page: select text, click the toolbar icon, and copy a safe version into any AI tool, form or email. HOW YOUR DATA STAYS PRIVATE • On-device processing: your text is analysed by the DataAnonymiser desktop app on your computer, over a local connection. No cloud AI, no DataAnonymiser server, no third parties. • No analytics, no tracking, no content logs. • The extension stores no text, only its pairing settings. The link between placeholders and real values is held in the desktop app's memory for your session and discarded afterwards. • Nothing happens until you pair the extension with the desktop app using a one-time pairing token. WHO IT'S FOR Anyone who pastes emails, contracts, support tickets, CVs or patient notes into AI tools: lawyers, consultants, HR and recruiting, customer support, healthcare and finance teams. Helpful for GDPR-conscious teams and company AI policies. REQUIREMENTS • The DataAnonymiser desktop app for Windows, macOS or Linux, installed and running. Download it at https://dataanonymiser.com • Free plan: rule-based detection of emails, phone numbers, IBANs, card and ID numbers. Paid plans add on-device AI detection that also catches names and other personal details. • Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers. Live warnings on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail and Outlook on the web.
