Overview

Block distracting sites. Adding, removing, or pausing blocks all require your password.

Lock the sites that steal your day. Vault blocks the websites you lose hours to — YouTube, Reddit, X, Instagram, TikTok, or anything else — and puts a password between you and the off switch. When the urge to "just check something for five minutes" hits, there's no one-click way around it. HOW IT WORKS • Add a domain like reddit.com and it's blocked straight away, along with every subdomain (www, old, m and the rest). • Blocked sites never load. Chrome stops the page before it opens and shows Vault's "Access sealed" screen instead. • Tabs already open on a site are sealed the moment you add it. • Set a password, and adding sites, removing sites and switching blocking off all need it. TIMED PAUSES THAT END ON THEIR OWN Need a break? Unlock and pause for 15 minutes or an hour. Blocking switches itself back on when the time is up — even if the popup is closed — so a quick break doesn't turn into the whole afternoon. Turning blocking back on never needs your password. YOUR PASSWORD, PROTECTED • Stored as a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash, never as plain text. • Five wrong guesses lock the password box for 30 seconds. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-up, no tracking. • Your block list and settings stay in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. • Works offline. TIP: Chrome doesn't run extensions in incognito unless you allow it. Vault shows a reminder with a link to switch on "Allow in Incognito" so incognito windows are blocked too. An honest note: Vault is built to stop the casual, in-the-moment bypass. It's a willpower tool, not parental control software — someone with full access to the computer can still remove extensions from Chrome's settings.
