Chat with your own AI Gateway (OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic Messages) in the Chrome side panel, using the page as context.

Browser AI is an AI chat assistant in the Chrome side panel. It connects to an AI gateway that you configure yourself — any OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions endpoint or Anthropic Messages endpoint — and lets you ask questions about what you are reading. Browser AI does not include an AI model or an account; you bring your own gateway and API key. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Chat in the side panel – click the toolbar icon to open a chat next to the page. Answers stream in as they are generated; you can stop, retry and copy them, and switch models from the message box. • Use the current page as context – the title, URL and main text of the page are read on your device and shown as a "Sharing this tab" card. Remove the card if you don't want to share the page. • Ask about selected text – select text on a page and it is added to your question. • Share other tabs – type "@" to add up to 5 tabs from the current window as extra context. • Screenshots and files – select an area of the page as an image, or attach images and common office documents or text files. Documents are converted to text on your device before sending. • Skills – type "/" to use a saved prompt. Create your own skills or add them from the built-in skill library. • Quick actions – Summarize, Explain, Translate and Analyze tech stack on a new conversation. • Act on the page (opt-in, per message) – when you turn it on for one message, the AI can click, type into or select elements on the current page. It will not enter passwords, upload files, pay, delete data or publish content. • Writing assistant – an optional helper in multi-line text boxes that rewrites your draft in a chosen tone. Text is only sent when you click to polish it, and the helper can be turned off. • Floating chat that can sit inside the current page, light/dark appearance, 21 accent colors, and English / Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese interface. • Local history – conversations are kept only on your device. Pin, delete, or choose to keep them for 7, 30 or 90 days, forever, or not at all. HOW TO USE 1. Install Browser AI and pin its icon to the toolbar. 2. Click the icon, then "Open settings" → "Models". 3. Choose the API format (OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic Messages), enter the Base URL, model and API key, then click "Test gateway" and "Save". Chrome asks for permission to reach that gateway address only. 4. Open any web page, click the Browser AI icon, and ask a question. The page is shared as context unless you remove it. 5. Optional: type "@" to add other tabs, "/" to use a skill, or "+" to add a screenshot or file. PRIVACY • Browser AI has no servers of its own and collects no analytics. • Your API key and conversations are stored only in Chrome's local extension storage on your device. • Page text, selections, screenshots and files are read on your device and are only sent — directly from your browser — to the AI gateway you configured, when you send a message. That gateway's own privacy policy applies to that data. • By default the extension can only read a tab after you click it (activeTab). Access to all sites and to other tabs is optional and requested only when you turn on those features.
