Overview
Archive your saved, liked & favorited content from Instagram, TikTok, and X/Twitter — to your own hard drive. Your data, your way.
Every double-tap. Every bookmark. Every "I'll come back to this." Across years of Instagram, TikTok, and X — you've curated thousands of photos, videos, and reels you actually love. They live on someone else's servers, until they don't. UnplugMe gives them back to you. WHAT IT DOES UnplugMe builds a personal, offline archive of the content you've liked, saved, favorited, or bookmarked on social media. Photos, videos, reels, collections — organized by platform, on your hard drive, for as long as you want to keep them. • Instagram — saved posts, your collections (kept as folders), liked photos and reels • TikTok — favorites, likes, reposts, and your own posts • X / Twitter — photos and videos from tweets you liked, plus your own posted media Your Instagram collections stay intact. If you spent years sorting saves into "Recipes," "Travel," or "Inspo," they come out the other side as folders with the same names — not a heap of 10,000 unsorted files. HOW IT WORKS 1. Request your data export from the platform (Instagram, TikTok, or X). This is the official button they already give you, buried in settings. It takes them anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to email you a ZIP. 2. Drop that ZIP into UnplugMe. It reads the file to find every post you saved, liked, or favorited — thousands of them, in about a second. 3. Click download. UnplugMe fetches each photo and video and writes it to your hard drive. The export tells UnplugMe WHAT you saved. To get the actual media, the extension downloads it from the platform, in your browser, using the session you're already signed in with — the same way your browser loads the post when you look at it. Nothing is downloaded that you hadn't already saved or liked yourself. No accounts. No uploads. No "give us your password." BUILT FOR BIG ARCHIVES Most people who try this have thousands of saves, not dozens. So: • It runs in the background. Start a download of 10,000 posts, close the window, keep working. It keeps going. • It resumes. If your laptop sleeps, your Wi-Fi drops, or Chrome restarts mid-run, it picks up exactly where it left off instead of starting over. • It remembers. Run it again next year and it skips everything you already have, downloading only what's new. • It's polite. Downloads are deliberately paced and spread out rather than hammering the platform with thousands of rapid requests. A very large archive can take hours. That's normal, and that's why it runs in the background. PRIVACY — THE ACTUAL DETAILS Your archive is local. The extension writes every photo and video straight to your hard drive. Your content, your saved-post URLs, and your browsing are never sent to us — we have no way to see them, because they never leave your machine. The extension makes exactly one kind of request to our servers: activating and periodically re-checking a paid license key. That sends the key and a random device ID (used to limit a license to 3 browsers) — nothing else. On the free tier, the extension never contacts us at all. No tracking pixels. No ad networks. No analytics inside the extension. We use cookieless analytics (Plausible) and anonymized product analytics (PostHog) on our marketing website only — never in the extension — and you can opt out of both with one click. Full privacy policy: https://unplugme.co/privacy PRICING • First 50 downloads — free. No account, no card, no email. • Unlimited — $23 one-time. Not a subscription. Works on up to 3 browsers. 10% of every purchase goes to digital wellbeing nonprofits. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO Being straight with you, so nothing here surprises you: • It doesn't work without your data export ZIP. That's the file the platform gives you, and you have to request it first. UnplugMe can't skip that step — and wouldn't want to, because that export is what makes this your own data, retrieved with your own authorization. • It doesn't download other people's private accounts, DMs, or anything you never saved. • It doesn't post, follow, unfollow, like, delete, or change anything on your account. It only reads and saves. • It can't recover posts that the original creator has since deleted. If it's gone from the platform, it's gone. • It isn't a bulk unfollow tool, a feed cleaner, or an analytics dashboard. It archives what you saved. That's the whole job. FAQ Do I have to give you my Instagram password? No. Never. UnplugMe has no login of its own and never asks for a platform password. It works inside your browser, using the session you're already signed into. Where do my files go? Your normal Downloads folder, in a folder called UnplugMe, organized by platform and collection. How long does it take? Roughly a second to read your export. The downloads themselves depend on how much you saved — a few hundred posts is quick; tens of thousands can run for hours in the background. Is the $23 a subscription? No. One payment, forever, on up to 3 browsers. There is no recurring charge and no upsell. What happens when I hit the 50 free downloads? Nothing breaks. You keep everything you've downloaded. You just can't download more until you upgrade. Can I use this if I'm not deleting my account? Yes, and most people do. Keeping a copy of what you saved doesn't require going anywhere. WHY THIS EXISTS Most of us aren't planning to delete our social accounts tomorrow. But the option to actually keep a copy of what we've curated — the recipes, the art, the memes, the quiet beautiful things we've saved over the years — that option shouldn't depend on a platform's choice to keep us logged in. If you ever want to step back from the feed, take a break, or just sleep better knowing the things you cared about exist outside an algorithm — UnplugMe is a way.
