Gmail View Next
Overview
A resilient, newspaper-inspired Gmail inbox view with configurable layout and local sender marks.
Gmail View β Newspaper Inbox Gmail View turns your everyday Gmail into a calm, newspaper-style reading experience β without ever changing, moving, or deleting a single email. It's a pure visual and layout layer on top of Gmail: the same inbox you know, finally laid out the way a busy person actually wants to read it. If your inbox feels like a cramped, noisy list, Gmail View gives it structure, whitespace, and a clear hierarchy β so you can see who wrote, what it's about, and when, at a single glance. ββββββββββββββββββββββ WHAT IT DOES ββββββββββββββββββββββ NEWSPAPER LAYOUT Your inbox is reorganized into clean, aligned columns β Sender Β· Time Β· Logo Β· Subject Β· Preview Β· Date β under an elegant masthead. Instead of a dense run-on list, every message sits in a tidy row with real breathing room, like the front page of a newspaper. REAL SENDER LOGOS Each sender shows their actual company logo, fetched live by domain. Recognize Google, GitHub, your bank, your shops, and your newsletters instantly β no more squinting at names. When a logo isn't available, you get a clean colored letter tile instead of a generic globe. This feature is fully optional (see Privacy below). COLOR-CODED LABELS & SUB-LABELS Your custom Gmail labels are given consistent "family" colors, so an entire label family shares one color and your sidebar becomes instantly scannable. No more grey wall of identical labels. FULLY EDITABLE β LIVE, INSIDE GMAIL Click EDIT and tune everything in place, in real time: β’ Drag columns to reposition them β’ Change font, size, letter and word spacing per column β’ Resize rows, adjust the masthead, set the gaps around date-group lines β’ Type an exact pixel size into any field β’ Style your labels β bold, italic, exact size β and target main (umbrella) labels and sub-labels separately, or both together What you see is what you get; there's no separate options maze for the layout. PRESETS & BACKUP Save your look as a named preset and switch between layouts in one click. Export your entire setup to a single file and import it back any time β so your perfect inbox survives a reinstall or moves with you to a new computer. WORKS WITH YOUR GMAIL THEME Keep your existing Gmail background showing through, or switch on the clean white "Paper" reading panel for a focused, print-like view. One toggle. DEDICATED SETTINGS PAGE Every option lives in one tidy place β appearance toggles, layout gaps, logos, backup, and presets β with safe input limits so a wrong value can never break your inbox. ββββββββββββββββββββββ PRIVATE BY DESIGN ββββββββββββββββββββββ Your privacy is the default, not an afterthought: β’ Everything happens locally in your browser. β’ The content of your emails is never collected, stored, transmitted, or sold. β’ No analytics, no tracking, no advertising. β’ Your layout settings live only in your own browser (Chrome storage). β’ The single optional network request is a sender's domain (e.g. "github.com") sent to a logo service to fetch that company's logo β never the email body, the address, or the name β and you can switch it off entirely in Settings. The full privacy policy is linked on this page. ββββββββββββββββββββββ GETTING STARTED ββββββββββββββββββββββ 1. Install Gmail View. 2. Open Gmail β your inbox is instantly restyled. 3. Click EDIT (top right) to make it yours: drag columns, change fonts, color your labels. 4. Open Settings to fine-tune, save presets, or back up your layout. No account, no sign-up, no setup wizard. ββββββββββββββββββββββ TIPS ββββββββββββββββββββββ β’ Double-click a column header to rename or nudge it. β’ Use "Main" and "Subs" in the label editor to restyle all your umbrella labels or all your nested labels at once. β’ Save a "Compact" preset and a "Spacious" preset and switch depending on your mood. β’ Turn the "Paper" panel off to let a favorite Gmail theme show through. β’ Export your layout before experimenting β you can always import it back. ββββββββββββββββββββββ WHO IT'S FOR ββββββββββββββββββββββ β’ Heavy email users who want a calmer, faster-to-scan inbox β’ People with many labels who want visual order β’ Anyone who finds the default Gmail list cramped or noisy β’ Anyone who loves a clean, typographic, newspaper aesthetic ββββββββββββββββββββββ FREQUENTLY ASKED ββββββββββββββββββββββ Does it read or send my emails? No. Gmail View only restyles how the inbox looks in your browser. It never sends, deletes, archives, or modifies your actual mail, and email content never leaves your device. What's the only thing that goes online? If sender logos are on, the extension sends just a sender's domain to a logo service to fetch that company's logo. You can turn this off in Settings. Will it slow Gmail down? No. It's a lightweight visual layer that runs entirely in your browser. Can I undo my changes? Yes β reset to defaults any time, or import a saved preset/backup. Does it work with Gmail themes? Yes. Keep your theme visible, or use the clean white reading panel. ββββββββββββββββββββββ GOOD TO KNOW ββββββββββββββββββββββ Gmail View is a visual layer β it never sends, deletes, archives, or alters your real emails. It restyles the inbox view only. Gmail's interface changes often, and updates keep the layout working smoothly. Questions or feedback?
